Perros del Mal: The Story of the Greatest Faction in Lucha Libre History

Video Overview & Insights

Learn the complete history of Los Perros del Mal, the most recognized faction in Lucha Libre. In this video, you will hear how El Hijo del Perro Aguayo and Hector Garza formed the group in CMLL in 2004. You will learn about their massive success selling out arenas and creating the best-selling t-shirt in Lucha Libre history.

Never miss a video and read my takes on what's happening in the world of Lucha Libre by joining my weekly newsletter here: https://ltlucha.com/pages/subscribe-newsletter

— @LetsTalkLucha

The video details their expansion into their own promotion and their sudden arrival in AAA in 2010. You will get specific facts on their rivalries, including the moment they ended the 600-match winning streak of Los Psycho Circus. You will also see how El Perro Aguayo mentored future global stars like Pentagon Junior, Taya Valkyrie, and Daga. I cover the tragic passing of Hector Garza in 2013 and El Hijo del Perro Aguayo in 2015, which brought the faction's active run to a halt.

Finally, you will find out about the 2026 return of Los Perros del Mal in a WWE-managed AAA. You will hear how current members like Daga, Angel, Berto, Karmen Petrovic, and Bronco Lima attacked El Grande Americano to bring the legendary name back to the ring.

[03:23] The Formation of Los Perros del Mal

This was an absolutely fantastic video. I do think it’s great that the faction has been revived. However, not sure if having them jump El Grande Americano was the right way to bring them in. Because like you stated, the crowd cheered when they were supposed to boo. It probably diminished El Grande Americano a bit. Definitely reminded me of when the NWO made every babyface in WCW feel like chumps. I would’ve brought them in as babyfaces, then turned them later in some dastardly fashion. To make the fans feel betrayed. But I’m just a fan, so what do I really know. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It sucks when politics ruins things. I wanna watch the new Los Perros del Mal, but it would be immoral to support WWE right now.

great video. I would like it better if you took a min to talk about Los Perros del Mal de Japon. I know it was around for only about a year, but I think that the fact they were one of only two factions that started in Mexico that had Japanese version beside Los Ingobernables, that I know of is a big deal of Los Perros legacy for me.

I feel like having two nephews of Héctor Garza is at least intended to give the group some legitimate connection to the original, but it can't just be me that feels like it needs Bestia 666 to at least be affiliated, thanks to his father's being a huge part of the iconography of the group and himself having been part of it for a number of years. There's been lots of attempts at "new" versions of stables over the years that have failed or diluted the original, just calling them Perros del Mal is not enough, they need to feel like they're truly 'connected' to the original, so they need either the personnel to have that direct link to the look and history of the team, or to truly feel like they embody the spirit of the original Los Perros rather than just using a popular faction name to get a leg up, for it to work.

My brother-in-Pro Wrestling, Thank you for this channel. My wife and I have been enjoying AAA for months now. Having these history lessons from your channel has helped give us some much-needed and appreciated context on backstories, culture and all of that so bro thank you again and I hope you keep putting out quality work.

I always wondered what was up with the scratch tattoo that the Garzas have on their back. I initially just wrote it off as a cool tat idea (I've seen a lot of those scar tats). Nice to know that it has an actual meaning. Thanks for the vid.

I really wish I had known about Perro Aguayo Jr before he died in the ring. After the tribute from Lucha Underground I watched a ton of videos on YouTube and he was such an amazing rudo. Such amazing work should be so much more appreciated than it is. RIP to the legend.

Thank you so much for this viedeo. I like having a way to learn lucha in english without the auto dub feature. Because I didn't know anything of this faction when I saw AAA brought it back, all I heard was it was "mexico's nwo" which that doesn't feel right. Because nwo was a giant group that had too many members while with this video they're more like bullet club where there's different eras. My biggest shock was learning of El hijo del perro's tragic end. I knew about the incident but I didn't know it was someone that important. I thought it was just some luchador, a tragic accident, that made the incident even more impactful

@DoneRandomLee
@

So question: who owns the copyright to the Perros Del Mal brand name and stuff nowadays? I assume that since they were able to compete both in CMLL and AAA that Aguayo held it but with his tragic passing does that means AAA owns the rights to the faction or is it a public domain sort of situation where hypothetically CMLL could debut their own version of the faction?

Its always surprises me the stories that end up intertwining with each other. I had listened to rey mysterio's recounting of perro passing in the ring and it was devistating then, to not only know it was a fellow legend, but also a man trying to honor the memory of one of his best friends truly does twist the knife in a major way
