Octavia Spencer on Getting Paid

I can’t think of a performance of Octavia’s that I dislike. She is so talented, down to earth & she makes me feel like Im watching someones real story when I watch her. I have watched The Help like 20 times because of her character ❤

Jessica Chastain is the woman we all need, the friend we all need, the comrade in arms we all need! And I want Octavia Spencer right there with me!

What you get paid is more about bankability. Denzel gets paid what he's worth, as does Samuel L. Julia Roberts gets paid the night bucks because she fills the seats. Mark Whalberg gets paid. Nothing to do with quality of the acting or sex.

Taraji is still talking this two years later. Sad.

i LOVE octavia spencer. she's one person i would love to have dinner with or even coffee. something about her is just so genuine.

Believe it or not there are many good people who want there to be equality for all!!!
Why do we have to color code every thing?? Things aren't always what they seem..Just like Humans are more than the color of their skin..

Imagine... to be paid so little that in order to bring the base pay to equal footing with another white female actress... you have to multiple that by 5X. An Oscar winner no less! It's appalling!!! It goes to show that women of color need to stand together and need more allyship with our white counterparts to move that needle. Much respect to Jessica Chastain for walking that walking and to Octavia Spencer for discussing this openly!

Love Spencer so much. The help helped me see the black perspective more clearly. I wanted to punch Miss Hilly out flat! She deserves more! I love what Octavia is in.

Ive watched the help yesterday and dang..such a masterpiece!!!! Its awful thats the life those strong women had at that time. Sooo unfortunate. Talkin of octavia: its disgusting that payment depends on race!!! Our black queens need to be appreciated more n more!!! Im glad this movie made the amount it made..what bout: giving payment to talent instead of race.

Only the women can help another in the current scenario....

Octavia's and Jessica's characters had the sweetest story in The Help.

Just keeping financial talks private is a way to keep this discrimination going. All bosses know this. We need more women of all colors and cultures in power positions. Virtually everything on the planet improves with the empowerment of women and girls.

The irony of the story is, OCTAVIA SPENCER HAS AN OSCAR and Chastain doesn't. So, let that be a lesson that an Academy Award doesn't mean that you can instantly command more money.

If liberals had an ounce of class consciousness, they’d realise that this is basically the argument for solidarity, activism and safety in numbers through unionisation . But because their material needs are all satisfied (food, shelter, clothing, utilities, etc.) instead it’s filtered through the lens of celebrity culture and identity completely detached from an awareness of capitalism in general.

Thank god for Jessica. She sometimes falls into the "white feminist" trap but I truly believe it's just out of ignorance. But she tries, and she sure does a lot more than other Hollywood feminists than simply talk big. At the very least she tries her best to help others whenever possible.
