NYC’s deadliest neighborhood is a true crime hotbed

Video Overview & Insights

Welcome to “The Killing Fields.” The Brooklyn neighborhood of East New York has the highest number of unsolved homicides in the city. Much of the crime can be traced back to shady mortgage deals and housing scams that tore the neighborhood apart. Author Stacy Horn detailed to The Post a few of the most chilling true-crime stories over the decades, from strangulation to stray bullets and even a self-described “Zodiac II” serial killer. She’s joined by retired NYPD detective William Simon and community advocate Andre T. Mitchell-Mann for a deep dive on the history of one of NYC’s roughest spots – and what is being done today to fix it.

I'm so proud to have been born and to have grown up in the most violent neighborhood in New York City!

My grandfather grew up in East New York, but that was in the 1910’s! The building where he lived, unbelievably, still stands. It’s right on the edge of the gentrified area.

The author is not saying that the financial crimes of the 1960's caused the violent crime! She's saying that the financial crimes attracted bad elements into East NY, and that in turn led to an outbreak of violent crimes.

The last time I lived in East New York a block away from the 75th precinct. I once walked into a Subway restaurant as some police from the 75th precinct was in the middle of a shakedown. I couldn't move out of the city fast enough. SMBH

F’ing BS!! Why NOW are these two white folks so concerned! White people are NOT altruistic!! It’s something in it for them!! Remember they said “neighborhood in transition” because they are getting things investigated and fixed so they can BUY PROPERTY and help push blacks and Latinos OUT!!!
One of the biggest corrupt police scandals went on in the 75th Precinct area. No white folks were there trying to help and investigate then!!!!! They want to bring attention and get the CHEAP PROPERTY
