Notion Review: Is It Worth It?

So I’ve been working on Notion for about the past four months, just creating projects so that I can learn through more of a practical manner. Based off of this review, I’d say that he makes a fair critique; however, I think it’s a bit undervalued on how actually effective this tool is. One element I need to research more, though, is about the collaboration issue that he was facing as far as having to deal with a hyper-cluttered working environment because of the excessive notifications, which is an understandable issue, but I’m pretty sure that’s something that could be easily solved.
On the other hand, I think Notion is actually worth it; it comes down to two general factors. One being its design and its minimalist outlook—like he said, it’s very easy to stay organized and clutter-free on whatever you’re working on. And if you find that your Notion page is getting cluttered, you can definitely redesign it and customize it into layouts that better suit your needs.
Secondly, and more importantly, the databases cannot be understated. When it comes to facilitating data management, enhancing visualization through different views, enabling complex data analysis and tracking via formulas and rollups, and supporting customizable workflows, it excels. With that, you can take your Notion page and have multiple workflows with different purposes and connect them all to relegate input in one area and be applied to others based on parameters you create. However, the thing with that type of functionality is it does take creativity and work to use a tool like this. But once you design it, you’re good.

Initially I disagreed with you but as I thought about it, yeah its better to test the waters with a dedicated tool that suites your needs and once you have two or more tools that you use/need/depend on (like note taking and tasks and data depositories of various kinds) then Notion starts to make more sense.

I am a C#/Java/Mongo/Sql/Python whom can make any application I want but I find Notion great for keeping track of islands of information for my wife and I have and we've used Notion to create a Student portal app to keep track of my sons, classes, assignments, planning and schedule. That making communicating with our son fun and colabrative keeping us engaged. And Notion is accessible from any platform such as Windows, Mac, Linux, iPad, iPone alhtough I havent yet checked to see if we can get to a page from our watch :)

I stopped using Notion after one day because it was too goddamned difficult to use. There wasn't a tutorial or explainer that could help me understand any of its functions or how to do the simplest thing. To say that in order to use Notion requires a steep learning curve is an understatement. I deleted my account and I will never go anywhere near Notion ever again.
