Thirty years ago, the CIA, in a secret memo, predicted its imminent collapse. And here’s the thing: they were right. How did this tiny, isolated country overcome the forces aligned against it? And why is it now declaring victory?

16:07 try indonesia next time are we going to collapse

does your narrow / false definition of what an Authoritarian regime is not include states like Saudi Arabia , Oman ?? Oman 's ruling authoritarian monarchy has been around since 1744 that's 282 years !! Saudi Arabia ( 94 years old ) VS North Korea (76 years ) šŸ¤”šŸ¤”šŸ¤ØšŸ¤Ø

A small background detail that was omitted. During occupation by USSR and US, South Korean population was massively pro socialist and wanted a north style governance and reunite. Then the US backed a brutal dictator that massacred political opposition and peaceful protestors.

a point, a revolution is caused not by bad living conditions alone but by a significant drop in them, by increasing prosperity of their capital it gives the population of the capitol further to fall and more tools to resist. PS for a case study there is a reason Putin isn't getting his solders for Ukraine form Moscow or saint Petersburg, because he knows this as well

So they basically followed the Hasan Piker Doctrine. Joking aside, Kim Jung Un is a lot smarter than the world thought. Which is surprising leaders thought that, because he was educated in prestigious schools, in the West.

@lucienramirez

Sorry, but this sounds like baby's first intro into North Korean politics. All of this was known for over 50 years now, well before they had nukes. And when they did, it was broadly talked about in the media and everyone agreed that NK is now untouchable. Nothing here is new. But it doesn't mean "they won". Because nukes are a political weapon, not a military one. An important distinction many people can not grasp unless they have geopolitical education.
NK can't invade South Korea for the exact same reasons the US can not just "take them out". Because it would correlate with their own destruction via nuclear or non-nuclear means. Plus nukes are INCREDIBLY expensive in upkeep, the plutonium core requiring frequent replacement. It's what most of the US military maintenance budget goes into. In essence, nothing changed for North Korea or South Korea in the last 60 years.

Mutual destruction is still the mainline threat for both of them.

@raphaelforkel7759
@

You got me until the moment you said Putin is losing the war in Ukraine. If he really is losing that war, we all would've already seen videos on social media of several Russian Cities in flames, especially Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, and Rostov-on-Don with Kursk being sieged and taken over.

I think in the future ( think 25 to 100 years) North Korea voluntary dissolves and will become a province of China. They can see that China is way more advanced, and by themselves alone they would never be able to achieve the same level of sophistication. South Korea may then later follow in the same path.

@theenergizer248
@

More people would rather live in North Korea then spend a minute in a black "neighborhood".

@BiggaNiqqa
@

If they abandon Juche and go back to Socialism I can see a North Korea as advanced as Vietnam in 50 years from now, honestly good for them

@OsvaldoSamuelRuizSalas-n1l
@

I just wish for whatever that will make Koreans lives better in the north.

@izydor-u2l
@

It’s not the nukes, it’s executing North Korean opposition and not having any resources of value to draw attention from global powers. Also I think people overestimate the protection nukes allow a country. You have to be able to use and secure your nukes. If a country can take or prevent use it doesn’t matter and I’m pretty confident North Korea is one such country it would be easy to disable their nukes. I think people don’t understand that it would he easy for the US to win wars if that was ever an objective. What the US wants in roles of power ,that we don’t elect people for, is to take resources from other countries and feed the military industrial complex. The US was never going to commit to a full scale ground invasion of North Korea because it doesn’t accomplish their goals where attacking Iran does but even in Iran they will never allow the military to do what it needs to do to gain a decisive victory

North Korea will be devastated once its people all have cell phones and electricity. If the gdp of South Korea is $2 trillion roughly and North Korea is only $37 billion don’t you think once North Koreans get a lil taste of freedom that they will stick their teeth in for a big bite. Obviously there would have to be something big to trigger that and the fall of communism in China is what will eventually be the fall of communism in North Korea. I believe China is on the brink of wanting to be free because they have a huge economy and life in China is getting better as they produce so much shit. But money doesn’t control China yet but I think they are getting close. I can’t believe it’s 2026 and there’s still communist countries.

I had to pause at 8:21 mark. Such a ridiculous overarching statement of the video. NK did not "win" anything. Their country and government and economy is still a total failure and they are dependent on other countries to feed their population. All they did was make a political statement and divide their ideology from the south. Anyone can do that. That's just like saying a homeless person is winning against society by publicly saying he doesn't need a job anymore and doesn't to to work in society anymore, when he still actually does.

New Question: Is North Korea ACTUALLY an authoritarian state? Or is that Western propaganda?

@Baraborn
@

@craixzo8441

A case study on why smaller, marginalized nations always seek nukes. They force world powers to take you seriously and open new avenues. I suspect something similar will occur with Iran; the world realizing how much power that nation has with the strait of Hormuz. The (inevitable) nuke will just cement their position in the global stage.

Let them have it. It's their country. Is that the reason they won't come talk at the table..... Communication is everything. Silence leads to violence. Ppl have got to talk. We are human if they want independence give it to them. They deserve to have their country anyone really mad about that??? If that's what's holding up talks. I have always thought of North Korea as a separate country. Like the only country that's prouder then the United States lol... We don't send foreigners to hard labor for taking a flag of ours.... You winon the patriotism lol be cool kim we never dint think you weren't your own. Stop being tough and come to the usa you will have a wonderful time. Lets stop that fuckin war. Time to stop the fuckin wars
