The other thing is that Bad Moms was the better version of "put upon working mom" movie because we actually get to see Mila Kunis's shitty life with her awful kids, and tech bro boss, and bitchy rich school moms, and useless husband who likes to jerk off with other women.
In Barbie we are just meant to assume the character is a put upon working mom because she's America Ferrera and that's who she always plays. She's borrowing credibility from her other roles.

@frightening_volleyballSomehow Nick Mullen has the best take on this film. It's not bad, and the politics of it are fairly bland and inoffensive to any nornal person, but the satire stops really working after a while and it just becomes a formulaic movie with script issues. It definitely has some funny shit in it though.

@Alordmiatreyai loved how in the end when Barbie wants to become a human the creator-god-lady is like "but first i have to show you what that means" but then she just shows her a montage of cute moments between moms and daughters.. the whole premise of this scene makes zero sense unless she's shown the negative sides of being human. this is not how this trope works lol...
@SaudiHaramcothe barbie movie was an absolute blast and it was hilarious. it can get “preachy” but not nearly as bad as other movies can be and it was smart at times also.
i do feel like it started to do a great job of highlighting the truth (that both men and women have it rough and have stereotypes and they should listen more to each other), but it certainly leans more pro women. and that’s ok. lot of other male dominated films.
