In 2026, if you use your smartphone or watch, your first tap at each station counts toward your 12-ride threshold. Once you hit 12 paid rides ($35 total), your personal entry will be free for the rest of that 7-day period. You can tap the smart devices a maximum of four times at a single station entry. Group trips do not count toward any fare cap and aren’t free. You will be charged the full $3.00 fare for each additional rider every single time you tap them in, regardless of how many times they have ridden that week including paying minors. Correct?

Just have some questions, with the omny card. If you are in a group of 2, we can both scan it twice at the same time? Also, you mentioned some places dont have to omny card creator thing, is there a way to know if a place does or doesnt? Do most places have them?

Can you please clarify on “Card can be used 4 times in a row at any station which means you can use for 4 people”. We are a family of 5 (2 adults + 3 kids) visiting NYC for a week. How many 7-day passes will we need to purchase?

And do I need to buy two more for my kids, or just scan the one I buy 3x each trip? I think I heard you can only scan once every 15 min so I should get 2 more unlimited passes for them… correct?
