New Titanic scan reveals ground-breaking details of ship's final hours | BBC News

Video Overview & Insights

A digital scan of the Titanic has revealed new insight into the doomed liner's final hours, including how engineers kept the lights on until the last moment.

You mean THE Titanic!!!

— @Kerry-l2h

The exact 3D replica shows the violence of how the ship ripped in two as it sank after hitting an iceberg in 1912, killing 1,500 people in the disaster.

Years afterwards i hope we can find the MH370 similar to how titanic was found after so many years....i pray the family of those lost souls gets the closure they deserve.

— @bloodthirsty43

The scan also provides a new view of a boiler room, confirming eye-witness accounts that engineers worked right to the end to keep the ship's lights on.

Ya know when you cry out the unsinkable ship... you cursed the voyage before you even left.

We already understand what hapened here lol. Why are we still spending milions on this dead ship. Let her and her bounty rest. Use the money to feed and house the homeless or something lol jesus, come on. "Oh! We spent a million dollars and found that a vent was probably still open when it sank!"

Buy Looking at the film Titanic from the start of the film Titanic in 1997. When they showed you how the ship looked then. Now in 2025 when you see this video from the news on YOUTUB. It does not look the same. Its starting to look like it has not got much longer to be seen.

The alternative outcome would've been something like: "Welp, the ship is sinking. Guess we better turn the lights off 🤷‍♂"

They really let that ship go. Someone needs to go down and give it a good cleaning the ship Looks like it’s been in a disaster.

why are they talking total rubbish? "engineers kept lights on til last moment" ... WHAT ARE THEY BLABBERING ABOUT? they make it sound like if engineers left for even 1 second, then ship would instantly lose power? do they all have 80 IQ?
engineers don't have to be present for boilers to keep running .. boilers requires minimal maintenance, you think engineers need to "hold the boiler" in their hands or something like a baby?

do they literally have so low IQ that they don't understand that ship like this, can keep its light on for days if not weeks, without any engineer.... this nonsense makes me wanna puke.

BBC's lower 3rds are incredible! Thank you for keeping them up the entire time so I can show them to everyone who walks into the room at any time during the story, and my neighbors can read them through my window across the street.

Some of the original videos of the Titanic supercomputer simulations, including the hull-girder breakup, were not adequately animated in the documentary. Therefore, the original versions are now being shared here. You can watch them via the YouTube link at the UCL Marine Safety and DHE Group.

Love when eyewitness accounts are being completely doubted. "We can now see if eye witness accounts of the bravery of the engineers who died in the disaster tally with the scan" .... Come on.
