Ix3 owner here! I can confirm the steering wheel absolutely sucks!! Its confusing and while parking I have to double check if I am doing what I need 😅😅😅

You can get a normal steering wheel which costs just £100. Or it’s standard with m sport pro.

I have an older iX3, now almost 5 years old, so I think after watching this I will upgrade. The range anxiety is annoying, and that's someone who's also in Eco mode. Nice pleasent review.

My experience is the bigger the battery the worse the ride. Had a Polestar 2 and the ride was hard and jumped around on rough roads. Changed to an EQE and that was smooth but made passengers feel sick as again on rough roads used to rock from side to side like being at sea. Given up with EV's and gone back to a GLC 300e PHEV which returns me to a more standard ICE road feel.

As others have mentioned having a big battery is not a minus point. As an iX3 owner who does their homework the big battery enables me to hoover up electrons where they are cheap and ignore expensive options. BMW also provide a charge card (free for first 12 months). This gives you Ionity for 45p (about to rise by a couple of pence I think) and in places like France it’s even cheaper.. eur 0.36 per kWh. There are big discounts on several other networks inc Sainsburys, Be EV and BP. You can also hoover up energy on home and hotel chargers that are often fixed price or even free. Either way with a little homework it’s easy to keep an iX3 charging cost well below the 55-60p per kWh equivalent cost of petrol or diesel.
I have done a long term owner review, owners tips and glitches report and 915 miles UK road trip report on the MyUrbanCar website. There are some things that testers who are only given a car for a few days or hours don’t really come across like those charging discounts.

...and there is no plug (12V or 230V) in the trunk, just "1" between the front seats in the compartment...

No, it's ugly and expensive. :-) Next.

Great review Nick. There is a two spoke steering wheel option. I have changed from an EQS 450 to a ix3 50 recently and whilst I really enjoyed the 60k miles I drove in the EQS, a very comfortable long distance cruiser, the iX3 ride is almost as smooth and it delivers a really satisfying positive drive. I found myself not being overly cautious to preserve energy and actually enjoying the drive. Overall I really like the iX3 50 Msport Pro. I did have some concerns that the seats in a Pro may not be as comfortable after a 5 hour drive, but they are fine. Overall love it!

500 WLT (Wishful Lab Test) miles = more like 300 real miles, but ok….

A screen inside the screen. Thats wild he says... go to china mate, it was a common feature 6 years ago. Ive sat in many cars with this.
@tobefree3718Instead o being curious about steering wheel, you could have done your research. I am not a car reviewer and I know the choices.
@robertpawley5715Please tell me you drove it in B mode..
@m9shamalanThanks Nick for this information video , my question to you for the money do you feel that bmw put too much cheap looking plastic in their interior
@Techchambers-d8mWill be good to see a comparison to the upcoming long range (500 mile plus) Volvo EX60.
@SebNutterDoes it have a dashcam and rear camera?
@inquistivelooks utterly awful
@dgimomThat design is horrible.
@rayray117heard it is selling well, even more than their gas version. I would prefer it over Y.
@freetrailer4poorI agree touchscreens can be very dangerous.
@freetrailer4poorGreat review Nick!
I ordered the first i3 50 First Edition in France and i love that steering wheel!👍
Great review! Just ordered the ix3 40 msport. Love to see the review for the 40 edition. Excited about driving the car.
@philholloway7613Ive bought one. It’s due to be delivered next week.
There is an alternative steering wheel and I selected this in my spec.
Why would you only have on e wireless charger for phone?🤯
@Hodge19I think the "designer" should have gone to Specsavers. It is one very expensive ugly car.
@andrewwilson3448I'll wait for these to decpreciate and pick these up at 50-70% off 😂
@pandamonium223You can specify a more traditional steering wheel. I'm waiting for the i3 saloon, then will also try the new C-Class
@nicomonkeyboyIs the steering feel still numb?
@wushuhsuWhy don´t you talk about the driving assistans. They are top of the class. And the stearing wheel - you can select another one.
@kroener1😂😂so ugly bmw lost it in design terms years ago. It has no wow factor looks like an old man’s car or an estate agent’s ride 😂🤣 and the price 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
@jrichardson6Did you park between two cars at supermarket or were you always looking for an end space etc.
@MiniEggs1999Bit of a bizarre comment saying that the large battery is a con because it takes a lot of electricity and therefore cost to fill it if you public charge it. It doesn’t matter which battery you charge you’ll pay the same price so actually having a bigger battery to start with means you’re less likely to have to use public charging if you have home charging in which case is actually a pro not a con.Regardless of battery size the miles you need to use public charging for will cost you the same
@PaulHoward-x6fAnother crazy expensive EV. Once my tax free EV lease goes back, i'll just get a cheap 3 yr old petrol.
@TruthTeller-100The reason it “soft breaks” is because the final part of stopping is done by the rear wheels which makes it smoother
@PaulHoward-x6fFair review. The parcel shelf can be stowed under the trunk floor.
@ChristianHauser78So the main irritant in the car is the primary control surface, the steering wheel.
@exe889It has more range ONLY because it has a (significantly) larger battery compared to model Y. This is primary school level stuff.
@exe889I think you're missing out in the economic point. You say it's expensive to charge because it's a large battery. The large battery means you don't have to charge as often, but you have to look at the consumption to decide if it's expensive. This one is very good at consumption (in its class). So even if you don't pay as much for each charge with another car, you still have to pay more (and stop more) in the end.
@VegardSkipnesthank you for taking us on the ride! BTW - you can chose the steering you want! If I would be looking on the large side EV SUV - this would be on the list.
@BavarianCarEnthusiast2030The question is can you drive for 500 miles? If you can drive 7 hours without a break, good for you.
@guse1219Why did you make no comment about the humongous price? At £10k more than a Model Y it's seriously overpriced.
@scott135Horrible interior and the sloping centre tablet and that steering wheel, what were they thinking? All electric cars accelerate ridiculously now, but it’s just a novelty which kills your range. I’ll keep my 6 cylinder x3 for now
@julianbennett9821As for Multimedia. I would like to point out that the iX3 is INFERIOR to the iX in one respect. The iX3 does NOT have a data ready port, so it can NOT play music from a USB stick. This means that my large music library i listen to in my iX can NOT be played in an iX3. I would also note that FIDELITY from a USB stick is superior to that of Apple Carplay, etc. This inadequacy of the iX3 has been thoroughly discussed in the thread " USB port for media " on Bimmerpost.
@wilber8260M steering wheel looks normal and it's a cheap option
@woodypwxI’m must be out of touch with car prices. I had a Lexus IS300H for about 10 years until someone bashed into me.
Then leased a Tesla Y for two years, which goes back in a few days.
That’s it, no more cars for me. going cold turkey for a year.
Choosing the correct Public Charging point is very important. Which is why I always charge my Mercedes at Tesla Chargers or at home.
@mikadavies660It’s just really expensive and when you look at the quality of interiors that some of the others are offering for tens of thousands less…. It does seem to be quite a difficult one to swallow on price.
@FastwunzI love your channel, Nick! You are such good reviewer and such a competent educator (tips and tricks)! 👍😀
@lenagennemarkedsbackerYou have to move the air vents through the screen, which is simply ridiculous.
