Netflix Thinks You're Stupid
Video Overview & Insights
Netflix thinks you're not even paying attention. They've built their entire content strategy around the idea that you're scrolling on your phone while their hundred million dollar movies play in the background as if theyâre expensive screensavers. Netflix content is the type of stuff you see playing in the background of actually good movies.
Damsel is a great example. Netflix's DAMSEL - An Exemplar of Terrible Writing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdDY_SZVB-4
Damsel doesn't make any sense https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKKuImf9Enc
Damsel Being Devoid of Logic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzHF0YYwwwk

And the thing is? They might right about you not paying attention. But that doesn't make it okay. This week Matt Damon went on the Joe Rogan podcast with Ben Affleck to promote their new Netflix film The Rip. And during that conversation, Damon explained something that we already knew was going on, but now a hollywood celebrity could break it down for us. He explained how Netflix actually wants their movies made.

These moronic types of rules companies now enforce destroys the arts. Whatever, peak gaming is better. Back before companies completely lost their minds

Yo wizard, not sure if you were aware, but Spotify streaming does the same thing. They have produced a bunch of generic slop music designed to play in background since so many people just have Spotify on while cooking or studying, etc. so you get lower quality music as well. Granted it's all algorithm based so i can't say for certain that it's as widespread an issue, but it is there

They think viewers are stupid, and unfortunately, they're right. Otherwise, they wouldn't have so many subscribers. And their projects wouldn't be successful. Deadpool 3 wouldn't have made a billion. Lilo & Stitch wouldn't have made a billion.
I hate to admit it, but...goys are simply treated like goys.

It's makes now that you mension it. While watching a lot of different streaming movies and TV shows notably on Netflix, Apple Tv+, Disney and Amazon, I just had this impression that you not actually supposed to be paying attention to it, like it just noise.

They donât have movie stars in them. They have âmovie starsâ in them.

this is the problem with Netflix. if I want content while i'm doing other things I'd choose something disposable like the radio or a podcast or something like this video where I only need to listen. if I'm going to pay for something it means I want to actually watch it. I'm not going to stick a movie on and then start washing dishes. if someone calls I'm going to press pause If I was watching something I wanted to watch. regardless Back when I used to pay for Netflix. I found I spent more time each day searching for things I wanted to watch than actually watching something.
@brokeboy-d6gI mean we did have this concept in the 90s. The idea a movie was good for TNT/TBS on a Sunday, was you wouldn't want to spend money on it to see it in theaters or rent it but if nothing else was on and nothing better to do I didn't hate it.
@darthbigred22In essence: Netflix is turning into Anime-Slop - That one assumes too that you're not truly paying attention.
@justsomeuser5123Shows thst are enaging enough to become primary screen, will also draw in fanatic viewers.and new customers.
@ludwigvanel9192You are my second screen. I have always preferred audio to video.
@jongrover8763I'm sorry, Wizard! I usually watch your videos when I'm in the bathroom, and at a certain point, I have to pay attention to other stuff or we'll have a real mess on our hands!
@shaunmaness5391ya i donât like netflix anymore its not worth it to me. I havenât had it for a few years now.
@esotericexplorersmartinez493And for the love of God, cancel Disney+ and Netflix!!!!!
@franknukemcomegetsome2744I legit only use Netflix for WWE at this point
@tylerfast106I'll never forget the episode Fish out of Water from Bojack Horseman. It was silent until the last 30 seconds. It told the story relaying thoughts, feelings & actions completely visually. Netflix will never make anything like this again.
@YouVSMeTV'I find television very educational. When someone turns on the TV, I go into the next room and read.'
- Groucho Marx
Itâs a self-fulfilling prophecy: they assume youâre not paying attention, so they design âcontentâ around your distractions. The moment characters start talking about whatâs actually happening, you reach for your phone because your board.
@EcoSp33dI like watching movies and TV shows that ârewardâ me for paying attention.
It makes them re-watchable.
Sounds like Netflix needs QA, but keep it up. Might just make Cinematic Movies Great Again! By making streaming garbage. Streaming bubble here we come.
@CrucialCarnivoreTo be fair... Most of the Netflix subscribers ARE stupid. Like, categorically, testably stupid.
@dragonmaster1360They wanna visual Muzak subscription
@GrinninginkI last had netflix in 2017 or 18 and went with Hulu for a Couple/few years primarily for my daughters and my mother after that but I've been subscription free since canceling Xbox Game Pass when the price raised to $30. I just watch YouTube, my daughters primarily just watch YouTube when they're here and my mom tends to watch the free channels on Roku TV over at her place, she finds her game shows, real estate reality shows and dramas all for free. I just don't see a reason to pay for TV in the 2020's?
@FinnSwede906So what they are really saying is that 94% of Americans can budget a tad better by canceling netflix indefinitely.
@cthsknightsengineeringReally love how you make your videos, the editing, the music in the background and also, your humor
@Sherif-the-WatcherNot me listening to this while grinding Arc Raiders Trials.
@PhilipGravesLXIXI liked the Rip
@SnarkyDaStinkThe hyperlink in your "10 Reasons Why" video didn't correctly link to this video; YouTube just made me look at the description instead... so I looked this video up to see some more TROOTH.
@TheAnonymousTyranton the more schizo side of things they could start or already have started using this model with the intention of viewers hearing but not really listening to (or thinking about) ideological assertions hamfisted into the dialogue. Considering the content of hollywood media from the last decade, I wouldn't be shocked if it were at least an idea among some in the industry.
@shovelkundesuthat a bit like old shows like star trek tos that you could follow without even see the screen while you are cooking or something like that ... but yep weird to do that in 2026 and spent so much on special effects lol
@SebastianSnoeckSo was "texting their wife's boyfriend" a test to see who was paying attention đđ¤
@joshuamueller3206So what youâre saying is that Netflix is basically dumping low-quality radio dramas with visuals on us.
@ThomasKrulwell, i also think THEY are stupid
@Snooopy28Itâs seriously frightening that I fall into 6% of people, what the hell man? Thereâs literally nothing worth even looking at on my phone to justify that, unless you have an addiction to a certain form of media
@GooberLoofer420Itâs funny because the rip is the first movie in a while that made me stop doing other things to watch it
@Marcus_VisbalHello
@alexfindlay7525I'm actually only subbed to Netflix for Vikings. When I finish it'll be buh bye.
@enchantdeadlypoisonThe other day I saw an interview with dax Shepard and he says that he has a friend who works for Netflix and he wouldn't say his name and he said his grandma's going to hate him for this but that they purposely make movies and TV shows knowing that you're not watching so they purposely say the person's name over and over again so you know who's talking to who and they do something to make you look at the screen right before something happens important where you have to look and they don't care how badly it's done because we're not watching anyway
@MandieKearns-Moore-n9yLiterally that is how watching the new Kpop Demon hunters movie is like. After the first act there is a noticeable decline in quality and creative vision. With the beginning very exciting, innovative and Korean. The rest is bland and pretty generic.
@nonlinear3084Why the hell should Netflix care about watch time? People that pay for netflix often dont even watch it actively. These people can achieve background noise with podcasts and youtube, which are free. If i want to pay for a movie streaming service, then i want memorable movies, not disposable content that i will forget about by tomorrow morning.
The only people that netflix should get to watch them more are users that use netflix with ads, as they would get more ad revenue. Otherwise it doesnât matter what they put on there. The most remembered and rewatched movies are films with heart and passion and viewer respect.
The need to constantly explain and re-explain the plot reminds me a lot of Veilguard, where many interactions have characters state obvious details or explain what's going on half a dozen times in the same conversation.
@simonsimons1252Ironically I casually viewed a good amount of this đ
@jaredlaird4191But that's what YouTube is for
@kingfriday555đđđ
@DraxxxisCancelled Fuckflix ages ago, they keep cancelling good shows and dragging slop for 1000 seasons. And unless is Disney paying me, don't worry...i won't ever subscribe to that other pile of slop.
