-------------------------------------
In 1800, after marching across the Alps into Northern Italy and defeating every enemy in his path, Napoleon spreads his army in a bid to encircle the Austrians and block their escape. But he has miscalculated his enemy's intentions.
Fabulous Lannes, Victor and Kellermann
On a hot summer's day, near the town of Marengo, an advancing detachment of French soldiers find themselves facing 30,000 Austrians. Outmanned and outgunned, the French are soon fighting for their lives, and Napoleon faces an overwhelming defeat. But when last minute reinforcements arrive, victory may still be in sight...

Napoléon was a terrorist how murdered in the past millions of European and people still France admires him, but when it's Hitler, he's judged like a criminal. It's a world of hypocrites.

The video is very good , however it would be much better if there is no background music . The background music is annoying. It is unnecessary .

How times change!! Had the United Nations(the successor to the League of Nations, which had failed to stop WW II and the Holocaust))existed at the time((1820s)of these events,
the Security Council would have held a Special(''Extraordinary'')Session and stopped Napoleon's violation of the territorial integrity
of several sovereign states. The plunder of certain artefacts from Egypt, for instance, would have been prevented.

@marknissen5961I'm not much of a historian, so I can't speak to the veracity of the claims, but I've read credible arguments that the Consular Guard was not even broken in this engagement and that the unit that was actually overrun and largely taken prisoner was a regular line unit. Arguments include the fact that the Consular Guard was noted in several independet sources to have taken part in the counterattack that Desaix's fresh forces mounted, witness reports by adjacent units that witnessed the Consular Guard's engagement describing them withdrawing in good order, wounded in tow, after expending their ammunition, and austrian reports that apparently exactly mirror those of their supposed destruction of the Consular Guard, in which a different unit is overrun in exactly the same manner that apparently befell the Consular Guard.
tl;dr The Granite Redoubt possibly had odds that weren't quite as bad, but actually held their ground and then withdrew in good order, which, to me, is even cooler than described in this video.
The treacherous austrian ammunition wagons
@ajax9433Thought 500k or even 1m armies but they show 30k etc each side.
@filmkulubuNapoleon and Austrian painter are the greatest things Europe has ever made
@ThegodTalhaThe stuff of legends. Desaix, Murat, Kellerman. I love this period of history.
@Redmow51I was SURE they were going to say that Napoleon's Greatest Comeback was "On Yo Mamma's"... But fine, let's learn "history" or whatever.
@I_am_A_DeeNo other could save the day better other than Napoleon and his army
@bravekharmyndai304ok it's official. this is the best historical documentary about a conqueror i've ever seen. not necessarily the story, i mean it's good but the way epic history does it. my god. incredible.
@ScaredNerdThat "VENGEANCE" part was just absolute cinema
@VeryluckymBeautiful
@MysticArchivesOfficialNapoleon is a war criminal in the same level as Hitler.
@edtrent3789what is the music in this video? i see no link in the description
@suddencucumber5994Shout out to the real MVP: the rain the night before.
1. Delayed Austrians due to marshy ground at the start
2. Stream had a lot more water allowing the French to hold the line a lot longer than they would’ve at the start
3. Desaix only came right at the last minute because he had to stop with the stream too deep
18:08 How can anyone make a movie about Napoleon and not include this movement of pure epicness?!
@colmmacNLast Frenchmen with ANY courage! 😂😂😂
@alanmorehouse423In 9 minutes of watching I already had 3 double ad’s 🎉
@edgarasmaselskis8124The fact that at 12:26 the guards are as tall as the men on horse back is wild
@Liam-t4u2bBetter than the napoleon movie
@jmil394711:36 The Guard's stand.
@Napoleon_BonapartethefirstThe Austrians were good soldiers.

@ChristopherODonnell-v6lI have been in a battle for a beautiful woman, the boyfriend of 2 years cheated on her, she got on a dating app, and went on 3 perfect dates with me. Whats the problem? Well she keeps taking him back, and forgot to mention him at all to me. A month in I am falling in love, but something feels off, then the boyfriend is revealed and it is revealed that I am the "side guy" as It may, but I have feelings, I find her beautiful, I am invested, I want to win! The boyfriend finds our texts, start tracking her location on her phone, our hotel meetups stop, but we keep talking, she wont give up on me no matter how much he pressures her. I sleep with her best friend, then we have a falling out, now her female best friend hates me, the boyfriend hates me. Both of them pressure her into never talking to me, 4 days of silence, then the message, "I miss you" comes into my phone, there is hope, she doesn't want to give up, what's the winning move?!?!?!...Everything is against me. I need to make a comeback victory, so I am here trying to get inspiration from winners.
@NickWebb-lc6ryThis just goes to show that Napoleon's generals are just as competent tactically as Napoleon himself. The one thing I noticed which isn't included in this video was that when the Austrians launched their attack on Marengo, the French retreated back to the Fontanone stream. This position was close enough to prevent the Austrians from deploying and using their numerical advantage early. But it was also far enough that they couldn't just concentrate their forces and breakthrough at a single point, dooming the French line.
To close to the bridge, and they would have faced an overwhelming Austrian attack to break through at one point. Too far and they would have allowed the Austrians to deploy freely and make use of their numerical advantage. Their positioning in this battle was just simply brilliant!
Could I repeat Napoleon's victory at Marengo? Sure. I can cook a really chicken...
@thomasjamison2050Who provided the flawed intelligence to Napoleon, and why was it so inaccurate?
