I wish I liked Mastermind. It was aesthetically cool, and I am a fan of O'Connor but man that movie felt like such a slog. Almost in love with itself, in love with its lethargy.

One battle after another is absolute trash most overhyped garbage I have ever watched. Idk how anyone could give it any praise.

@StevenLeeStudios

Maybe you should explain why you liked them?

I thought almost all of the critics' favorites were overrated. One Battle, Sinners, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, all not very good when you think about them, or at least when I do. That's a longer discussion. My best of the year: THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB, SOULEYMANE'S STORY, THE PRESIDENT'S CAKE (I swear these are real movies), HAMNET, BLUE MOON, BELEN and THE PLAGUE. Most of them are foreign. America isn't making many good movies.

@JoshuaTanzer

Agree with everything except number one, One battle after another is just an opportunistic cash grab with a political agenda.

Cloud was an absolute sleeper. I wish it went in theaters.

I've watched The Mastermind, in full, and no good can come of what you've done by recommending this movie to the general public. May you find solace in your crimes against humanity.

After seeing No Other Choice I just have no idea how anyone could say Marty Supreme is a better movie.

Wasn’t expecting the live action Snow White at the #1 spot, but okay.

I really disliked one battle after another. Very shallow and predictable. Bugonia much better delivered those topics.

#1 pick is wild Ngl

@BoostedIV
@

So far, Train Dreams, No Other Choice, One Battle After Another and Bugonia were my favorites. I think some others that deserve more recognition were Presence, Mickey 17 and Twinless, The Secret Agent and Sentimental Value are at the top of my list to watch in the next week, but this has been an interesting year for film. There are quite a few on this list I will eventually watch, but only so much time in a day.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I disliked Marty Supreme, and no not because he's an anti-hero.

@totowashere
@

I cannot for the life of me understand the hype over Sirat. Surely I’m missing something about its message/plot? Otherwise I just don’t know why people love it so much

Honestly, I think the best way to describe this film is describing it how I want to go see this film as well as another similar film that came out around that same time, Roofman. A film also about a Robert, who spends most of his time, literally evading police and robbing fast food restaurants, and spends most of his time escaping prison, his biggest escape being when he lays low at a Toys “R” Us. The film literally acknowledges that the character is really, not as smart as he thinks he is, because of the fact that despite the fact that he thought that he can get away with so much as he does, he clearly never thought a lot of things through, which leads to several setbacks and consequences occurring. But roof man had a much more tighter pace and managed to be much more engaging.
So for me, I feel like the best way to describe both of these films is sort of a “take-your-pic” scenario. Some people enjoy a film with a much more slower pace, and others prefer a film with a much more tighter and engaging pace.

"that one scene" on Sinners, when I watched it at the movie theater with my boyfriend I told him it was one of the most magical experiences I had had in a movie theater, and I think I'll still believe in 10 years because wow, you could never get that watching the movie from the comfort of your couch.
