More plants, no Co2. Co2 is not a must in any way. If you want fast growth Co2 is great sure. But not a necessity.

Aquasoil good for beginners. Note that th ph will change as aquasoil depletes its buffering ability. It makes a difference for hard water. If kh ok then you will be ok

Can you do a example of a aquarium that a average beginner or hobbyist can do ?....
That means without co2 , expensive aquasoil or heaps of fertilizers ?...
So with sand , gravel , waterlily soil, plants and rocks and driftwood ?...
Ofcoarse filter and fish and a aquarium 80 cm long and 40cm x 40 cm for example?..
Many people would like to see a aquarium like this.
Most of us cannot afford 200 euros on a co2 system or 50 euros on a small bagg of aquasoil 😢.

I am brand new to this hobby, your videos have really helped! I am confused as to why some people say to NOT use a heater for planted tanks, yet they put fish in that seem to require a certain temp. Do you heat your planted tanks?

@xmanu100I think planning is extremely important. Getting equipment piecemeal is fine, as long as you don't lose track of the goal. I had a bad habit of hoarding equipment/ plants for future tanks I never built. Which now are collecting dust, and the plants are still in their pots making my other tanks look bad... I need to be better too.
Speaking of plants, knowing how many plants you'll need is really important. I see A LOT of people on reddit/ forums that get like a 40 gallon breeder, fill it with aquasoil, then go to Petco and buy like four plants. You need a LOT of plants to use all the nutrients aquasoil provides. Basically half my budget for every tank is for plants.
Thank you for the substrate video. Building my new tank and went with the Fluval substrate since it’s the next best thing compared to the soil based one. I wanted to use that one but wanted to be sure what I bought would work for my setup since I’m in the USA . Love your videos! Keep up the great work. ❤
@Scott-kk1qxWould be so cool if you even considered trying to articulate; make the least amount of attempt at speaking more clearly.
@paszmatydo you have links to the websites you mentioned that you like to use to look up plants?
@jellyjenn12291Howdy, MJ. I have asked a while back if you could include Australia in your Affiliate Links PLLEEAASSEEEEE?! I find AMAZON AU would have almost all the equipment you recommend....... It would be great if u could provide a really good quality, Plant Supplier as it can be hard trying to get hold of a reliable source of quality Tissue Culture plants. Given there is only the 1 company growing TC in Australia, it would be good if we could access them directly... by the time their suppliers get half of them out to me, the stock has obviously been in the cup too long & had melted.... I look forward to Australia catching up in the TC Game, especially considering Aquascaping has become a popular Past time here now.... Otherwise, im not trying to nag u sorry. In general you are my fave Youtuber in the Aquascape game. Please keep up with Videos!! Love Aussie Girl. Xx
@MissBuilderBearI've just gotten back in the planted tank hobby and your videos have been very helpful. I have an 11 gallon long on my desktop with fluvalplant 3.0 light, ada amazonia substrate, lots of wood, and CO2 injection. I'm currently having mild hair algae at the 3 week mark but am confident I can get through it. I have reduced the lights some and am doing frequent water changes.
@chrisaggieThis video is very helpful with no fluff or BS I really appreciated it
@FauxkerykesThis is a cool channel I'm glad I found it. I was a chef and then I was a mechanic now I work in a union (hate it)... but my passion is aquascaping and keeping fish now. It's so weird how those things change as you grow older.
@FauxkerykesWhat is the max intensity you use for your chihiros WRGB2 ? I recently dialed it back to 55 percent because I'm noticing some plants struggling with more light despite dosing CO2 and nutrients.
@Skylabz604That is why you have dinner plates on your rack. Thank you, Chef.
@JoelDinoThank you Mark! Question: instead of spreading aqua soil all over, since there will be hard scape, can I focus it on areas where only plants will grow above?
2nd question: could I put aqua soil under a layer of gravel?
I'm just getting into aqua scaping so thank you for all your advice as it's helped massively!! And to give me patience and take my time and not rush and ruin it so thank you for that!
Do you have a heater in the aquariums? Room temperature here is ok for now but winter is cold .....I will start off with easy plants but I wondered if I should get a heater....?
Thanks in advance!
Man this guy is so knowledgeable
@sanyogpolkam742I just found your channel and I subscribed right away lol
@jasontuon5994Real clear, solid and easy to understand advice. 👍
@nath9233Excellent, coherent focus on the essentials.
@tonyfrench2574Can I use a hob filter in planted tank with co2 injection? Will all that surface agitation be a problem?
@Igor-q3fI have pet quails,,, I put one cup of their poop in a bucket and left it outside for a week, the bucket was swarming with flies. To this I added two cups of ground up charcoal and left it outside for another week. Again it was swarming with flies. I repeated the process of adding two cups of charcoal every week until there was no longer any flies WHICH TOOK SIX MONTHS, At this stage the bucket was literally undulating with maggots. I continued adding charcoal for the remainder of the year until the bucket was full.. The first cup of quail poop that was used to attract the flies was probably 80% shredded newspaper yet all those maggots were eating something for that entire year.. One of the significant realisations is that although poop gives off a chemical signature that the flies are attracted to, poop is not an essential food source, yet I could have never imagined that ground up charcoal would be a food source. lol A unique perspective generates unique shit lol literally.. lol
@ChristopherLeckyI have a 450l tank with small amount of sand and rocks. It had fake plants but I want to change. This really helps.
