My (IMPOSSIBLE) English Pronunciation Test 😱 (ONLY 3% PASS THIS TEST!!)
Video Overview & Insights
The hardest English pronunciation test that I've ever created (for fun, of course! 😊). This video explains the most commonly mispronounced words in English by English learners, including iron, weird, women vs woman, and many more. The words in this video become increasingly difficult with each level. I explain these difficult words and how to pronounce them in British English-Modern RP (but I also explain General American English and British English-RP variations). How many did YOU get correct?

I teach using just one of many accents in the world. Please only learn it if you like it and if you are interested in learning it. I do not believe there is one “correct” accent or manner of pronunciation and I fully encourage EFL/ESL learners to expose themselves to as many varieties of English around the world to become accustomed to the beautiful variations of this world language. I focus mostly on teaching “Modern RP” (I may just say “RP” in my older videos, but to clarify, I do specifically mean “Modern RP”), however, you will hear a lovely little Yorkshire twang to my accent from time to time too. Please LOVE and BE PROUD of your accent. After all, it is part of your identity and makes you unique. 💚

@j.k.sharma1074Surprisingly I got them all correct. Now for one of the longest words in Portuguese, try this: "inconstitucionalissimamente" and tell me how it went (it's an adverb, something like: in an extremely unconstitutional way). Or, even better: "pneumoultramicroscopicossilicovulcanoconiótico" (it's a pulmonary disease one gets by inhaling volcanic ash - don't see why we'd have a word for that, no volcanoes over here). I choked on that one twice.
Nothing will ever beat "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" in Wales, though (it's the name of a train station). I can't even begin to say that. Probably not going there, and if I do, God help me, I'll just call it "gogogoch" and be done with it.
Hepl me, how Pronunciation: pr, pl, sp, dr, fr, kr, gr, br,... in Program; play; driver; speak; from; kratcher; green. brown,.....
@xunnguyeneveryday5034Very nice video! Granted, some words are trickier than others. Most of my Romanian students mispronounce "iron". Perhaps an effective way of dealing with the RP triphthong here is by analogy with "lion", which they always get right.
@mihaihorezeanu43Hey Emma are you single 🤔
@ishaqadam7015Very an excellent
@MdJawed-jd9ofI’ve got 10 right answers. Women and the Big Boss I had wrong :)

@AlliSong-ux3hqYeah I got it 100%
@AlliSong-ux3hqShit was easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I got everything right
@letsfynx5345American speaker here from the Midwest. We tend to be a little harder with our "r" sounds. Especially in the Chicago area. So for the word "iron", we would say it like
"eye-urn". And for "weird" you would definitely hear the "r" sound. Like "weir d". And for "clothes", you would most likely hear It pronounced as "cloze". Hang up your cloze. But we also have many regional dialects. I have a family member from Kentucky. With the word "oil"...I would say it as having 2 syllables "oi l" as in rhyming with "foil", whereas she pronounces it as 1 syllable like "foal" but leaving the "f" off. I love language and how we are all so unique. Great channel and videos!
