My 50 Favourite Records of All Time / 10 years of deep cuts
Video Overview & Insights
A whole decade ago, I sat down in front of a camera and started talking ... how time flies.
I haven't listened to any of these albums except Daft Punk's Discovery, which I don't like as an album but I like the movie Interstella5555. I usually turn my nose up at anything labeled "alt" or "post," but maybe I'll check out some of these, I need to expand my musical tastes.
I'm surprised In the Court of the Crimson King wasn't on here.
Check out Alice Cooper's DaDa, it's a truly unique album in his discography and I think you'll find it interesting.
I hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think of my picks in the comments section

Thank you Oliver, without your channel I would have never discovered For Those I Love. What a powerful record.
Here's to 10 more years.
Congrats on 10 years man!! Thanks for all the great recommendations over the years!
@Death_ClassicThank god there’s no Stone Roses! Dirty Three is an elite selection ( though I might have gone with Ocean Songs :))
@Johncitizen82Thank you for this, Oliver. So so good!
@ricardom.vieira70Elite, illuminating selection.
@RolledLsThank you for 10 years of wonderful music recommendations ❤
@tomjackson715750 albums to get you into deep cuts 😏
@spoicyfishMy dad is so proud to be an OG fan of "Hats". He's been listening to it since it came out in the 80s and it's one of his favorite records.
@AmateurCriticI have almost a quarter of these on my top 50 list too. I have 12 albums to look up after this list. Thanks so much for your presence, Oliver. You will always have loyal fans so long as you're making videos.
@sebastianquiltSolid list.
@Demention94Thanks so much for this work, and for creating a Spotify playlist of this collection, for this double feat, I'll forgive you for the absence of any Nick Drake and for putting Slowdive at a mere 45 on your list :)
@WinstonGuitaromg! 😮
@fleazappChris Morris ruined Hex for me
@danielwallace1759Woah it’s as if you live in an alternate reality where The Beatles don’t exist 😮
@HansDelliI love you oliver
@Vitaly3548As a 55 year old I’m always nervous approaching these best of lists from young bucks, thinking I’ll know nothing, but very pleasantly surprised to know at least half the list and to love a lot of them. And then to top it with HEX. One of my all time favourites. I was very jealous when I found out one of my newer friends basically had Bark Psychosis as his house band when he was living in a squat. Also well done for choosing the best Slowdive track for your Spotify playlist - Machine Gun. I will definitely be working my way through this playlist. Well done Oliver, you are a man of taste. Ps my all time joint favourite albums are Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew and Can’s Future Days, in case anyone cares.
@TheChromatoneHey Oliver, huge congrats on 10 years of deep cuts! This list is an absolute masterclass in subjective curation—I love that you tossed "objective" cultural status out the window to focus purely on records that hit you on an emotional level. Showcasing left-field masterpieces like Bark Psychosis, Glenn Branca, and heavy spiritual jazz alongside your own life milestones makes this feel deeply personal and authentic. Sure, your blatant 90s nostalgia bias is on full display here, and anyone looking for modern pop or post-2015 hits will be left wanting, but that’s exactly what makes it your list. It is a fantastic, genre-fluid deep dive that perfectly reflects the music-obsessed community you've built over the last decade. Here is to the next ten years!
@soitraWhat a great video, very happy to see we have a lot of favorites in common and there's a lot of new recs here that I'm dying to dive into.
@jansojasnoThanks for these 10 years. This was, and still is, the most formative music YT channel for my personal journey. Will be here for the next 10!
@JaviVader9thx 4 da recs olive man
@sciantchecking out souvlaki now
@WhatSmadaI have just compiled my own top 50 thanks to this. It's really hard work and I have yet to put any in order, which will be even more difficult!
@pdox23Hi deep cuts, probably you already are aware, just in case you aren't....if you love Pink Floyd's Wish you were here and Animals, you must listen to their concert(s) of their 1977 tour where they played both albums in their entirety, a 20 min intermission in between them and an ecore of Money, Us & Them and Careful with that Axe, Eugene!
So good, so incredibly good. I was lucky to find a bootleg cd in this tiny store here in Vienna in the mid 1990s of their Oakland show, some pictures of their gigantic blow up figures that floated throughout the stadium, it was May 9th, 1977. Please, if you haven't, check that one out, it is beyond mimles above their studio albums, even after all these years, and not listening to them, this concert stands out and the people there, those who were there to lislten, man, do i envy them, pretty much the definition of a concert, i really mean that.
Hope you have not hear that yet, so i was able to gift you something truly biutiful, i know you will cherish it just as much as i do.
All the best from Vienna, take care
Thanks man, I discovered These New Puritans because of this channel…
@suleymantekingurmen7643I'm glad to see the best Fugazi record appear in the top 10! I also highly rate those Don Caballero, Mr. Bungle, Slowdive, Faith No More, Talk Talk, Slint, Talking Heads, Sun Kil Moon, Danny Brown and Dirty Three albums (all of those appear near the top of my own favorite-albums-of-the-decade lists).
I'm familiar (in varying degrees) with all of these albums except for the ones by Joe Hisaishi and The Tuss (I'm only a casual listener of electronic/ambient music, which is probably why I don't know them). There's so much music out there at this point that it would be interesting to see genre-specific lists instead of all-encompassing ones.
A Guide to Bruce Springsteen would be really awesome!
@sirtoby2070Inspirational
@christermogensen9006New to the channel but we have really similar taste in music!
@StrifeTMLINDO DA TIA!! Thanks for the good work, man! Greetings from Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
