Now I usually keep all of the technical stuff out and work on that as we progress, so all you really need to know right now is that your guitar is in tune.

Once your guitar is in tune, we will be going over very important finger dexterity exercises needed to be better at playing your guitar. In this first guitar lesson, I really do keep things simple. I see many lessons out there that start a little too far down the road and I really wanted to make this lesson about building confidence and assuring you that you CAN do this. Guitar isn't easy, but if we break the learning down into simple step-by-step instructions, we can tackle the challenge on step at a time.

I know absolutely nothing about guitar but I bought one earlier today and this video has already explained a lot. I hope I'm able to learn to play a little bit. I'm a truck driver with not a lot of spare time to take lessons. One of my biggest regrets is never learning an instrument. Heck, I don't even know which hand to play with. The guitar I purchased is set up right handed but I'm sort of ambidextrous. I do some things with my left hand and some with my right. I write and eat with the left but I shoot a basketball and throw a football with the right.

@PhiDinh-y2gHi all at 54 just bought my first instrument a Yamaha FG800M. I have wanted to learn guitar for years but never did and finally pulled the plug. I love how you break it down in slow easy steps thank you (not as easy as it looks however). I am in England and played Rugby since i was 7 and have chunky fingers, i have cut my nails as low as i can and no matter where i put my thumb or try to arch my fingers i constantly mute the string below. Does anybody have any tips or is it literally down to practice. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
