I think it's impossible to say which is the best version, but by listening carefully, you can identify three: Karl Bohm's, Bernstein's, and Abado's. Personally, after watching the Karl Bohm version on DVD and listening to the Bernstein version on CD, I think I have the best versions, BUT Mariss Jansons's is very good too; you should ask Mozart!

Je prépare actuellement cette pièce magnifique avec ma chorale. Je chante en alto et cette version doit bien être la seule ou on entend les altos! Ce qui est triste parce que nos mélodies sont magnifiques et apportent de l'unité au reste.
Je tire mon chapeau aux musicien•ne•s et au chef qui ont réalisé une version qui rend si bien!

Darf ich davon ausgehen, dass hier das Requiem von Mozart, der ja bekanntlich darüber starb, mit den Ergänzungen seines Schülers Franz Xaver Süßmayr erkingt? Es gibt ja auch noch andere Fassungen, u.a. eine von Robert Levin, die ich selbst mal mitsang.

Der Chor - wie immmer - sehr gut, ebenso das Orchester. Bei den Gesangssolisten ist es diesmal erstaunlich anders: Die Männer hören sich angestrengt an und tremolieren m.E. zu stark, die beiden Frauen kaum, nur ein bisschen auf den langen Tönen. Sopran und Alt gestalten ausdrucksvoll und souverän.

In my opinion Mariss Jansons was like the Marcia Gay Harden of music conductors. Very talented in his or her craft but would never promote themselves of indulge in fame, you have to discover them on your own.
