With a population of 495,000 and 5,000 new residents almost every year, what can those people in Knoxville expect?
There is no affordable housing unless you make 200,000 a year.
A city known for its deep-rooted love for its city, an intense fandom for its college football team, it's rich history, and vibrant community spirit.
So whether your moving from another part of America or just landed here as an immigrant, you will be shocked from what Knoxville has to offer.

@billing6818Wait, what?!? Good luck trying to sell. Rent is outrageous, infrastructure can't handle the volume of people...and quite honestly, it's pretty boring here. Local events cost way too much, food here is bland, and due to the population increase, there are now way more rude people. The only benefit is the mountains, period.

@SalazarmencincoKnoxville is mostly a poor city. Only West Knoxville has money but bring your checkbook if you want to hang in Sequoia Hills. The rest is pretty sketchy. Knox County is mostly the same. Poverty east and south, mixed bag north and wealthy west. But if youâre gonna live in Farragut youâll pay a million dollars for an entry level subdivision. Everything else is trash in ditches. Those jobs? That was so last year. They gone!

Plus we work in the same industry. So Iâd love to network a bit, if you, or if you donât work in non-QM side of the business.

I live in the North Shore Town Center neighborhood it doesn't mean that there is a sprouts grocery store that Knoxville is woke I'm also a vegetarian for health reasons but I do love some good old southern cooking.

@lewiel3289I have some advice about moving to Knoxville--DON'T. Housing is extremely high--my husband and I both hold PhD's and are both professionals. We can't afford to buy a house here. Salaries here are very low, you won't be able to afford to live in Knoxville. You'll have to go to some place away from Knoxville to be able to afford to even have a roof over your head here. The problem with that? Where you'll be living isn't Knoxville. You'll be living in rural Appalachia--white supremacy, "god and guns" culture (where men think it's their "duty" to 'introduce' their daughter to sex by raping her).

@RonaldStormyI used to live in Knoxville. My undergrad degree is from UT-Knoxville. I then went on to Vanderbilt (Big step up from UT. At least it was for a kid like me) for my graduate degree. And then I left the state. For good. Folks, sometimes a cost of living is lower for a reason. Just sayin. đ

@Ghostuser77778Have friends moving out there. Unfortunately everyone is trying to find the ideal city and not many bargains left. Tennessee used to be cool but traitor insurrectionist felon grifter trump won the state by 30% so not sure whoâs moving there.

I'm about 40 minutes away from STL in Illinois, and while there's a lot to dislike in IL, I do love my proximity to a big city (but happy I don't live in it). What are some nice affordable satellite towns you'd recommend for someone who wants to be able to own a bit of land and shoot on it? Secluded, but still a short drive from the action. Thanks.
