The point about most jobs being filled before they’re even posted really stood out. Reaching out directly and networking makes way more sense than just applying and waiting.

This really changed how I look at a job search. Not every job is posted publicly — networking and reaching out directly makes a huge difference.”

I got my first job through a friend. My second one was through company website, but in 2021 when the labor market was booming with plenty of jobs. 5 years later still at my second job just a new lead position with my bachelor's degree and online applications have gotten me no where. My mistake was not putting in effort networking. I might be able to text people from my old job, but not sure if that is weird just to reach out about that.

Every online job is either a scam or wont reply atleast in my experience
There is a big difference between what you learn in business school, and what you need to know in the real world – just ask any startup founder or business owner! My goal is to focus on the real-world aspects of business, giving practical tips and tricks that are not usually covered in school.
This channel is a platform to help job seekers, entrepreneurs and business owners succeed. It is also to help the world at large to be more effective and successful in their careers. The world can certainly use more inspiring leaders, more successful entrepreneurs, more employed job seekers, and more capable managers - that is what I would like to help bring about.
It seems like most of the publicly posted jobs have insanely inflated requirements as well. Which makes sense cause after they've exhausted all of the internal references they probably figure "if were going to have to hire a stranger, they might as well be overqualified".
Who Am I?
I am a practicing management consultant, former CEO, and entrepreneur. I have led many businesses to success, as well as several startups. Among other things, I have an engineering degree, and a master's degree in finance.
Posting ghost jobs should be illegal.
I have worked across five industries, and have worked in both large enterprise and small businesses. I have also mentored startup founders and teach business and HR at a post-graduate level.
Why I Want To Involve My Community:
This is right
The only way this channel will succeed is with YOUR help. In order to know how best to proceed, I need constant feedback from YOU. What topics should I cover? What challenges are you facing? What questions do you have? What changes should I make?
Thank you for being here and reading this, best of luck, and have yourself an amazing day!
Thanks Sir. I have a career break of around 3 years due to medical emergency with more than 20 years of experience and now finding it difficult to get a suitable role at senior leadership position. I have tired applying jobs through job portals and even no help is getting from network. If you can help with other ways to look out for jobs then please help.

Facts.....he is correct!!! I have landed jobs in the past by getting in contact with someone in my industry and them passing along my resume and portfolio. I often see people on reddit and other forms saying they put out 500-1500 applications and haven't heard anything. I barley see any of them mentioning any type of networking but just using job boards to apply. I'm in the 3D and Design industry and my work in very niche and you won't see many jobs for what I do on job boards. So I have to reach out to people in the industry and sell what I can do for them. I was laid off a month or so ago and the market is tough right now, but I'm going to use this method to land my next job.

This man gives great advice.
@YangonSleeperAs a person working in a company , i 100% agree , not Every company is on the internet , most of the time , we are asked to bring someone we know for a job vacancy .
@SayinsecondsI understand
@JoleneLewis-h9kI have no friends anymore and I don't know anyone were I live I a struggling to get a basic job at a grocery store
@TanakhSpotI've spent the most time applying by applying online, but I have had the most success by networking
@kevin4209The only times I've gotten a job it's been through networking. It's worse in some countries than others.
@FerroluneThe only jobs that i had were 100% by this kind of approach, the first was polishing cars, that went by a friend of my older brother, the next one i went personally 10 minutes before a tire shop opened, then talked with one of the bosses, all the applications i've sent online never got an interview
@matheo4712Love how concise this guy's videos are. No fluff and straight to the point.
@testservergameplayThis is great advice! Thank you so much! 🙂🙂🙂
@marciaturley2850Excellent Advice!
@max_rovethis is an incredibly valuable information, and i believe all of this
@playedbyear998I was hired twice at Dell from recruiters finding my resume ONLINE job boards.
@SuzyBethRwhat is i don't know anyone that i can network with. Not everyone has contacts
So what is your suggestion other than family remembers and friends
Back in the "day" we were taught valuable grassroots job seeing skills that were highly effective. He's 100% correct!
@vedales8670Yup. I hope my kids are getting this information. Used to be this was the plain story from adults, high-school and college counselors, etc. Seems like the lack of trust in institutional authority has made this communication harder. Also, computer and social-media brain-rot hasn't helped.
@uuidaeiouywMy boss often asked me if I knew anyone who could do a job she was about to advertise online. Now I know why. You can find skilled employees/candidates anywhere, but it's not easy to find someone reliable and who understands the company's culture. 😂😂😂
@JJDK485When i was 15 i watched my homeless incle stay online all day filling out applications waiting for someone to hire him. When i became of age i just went and applied at a sandwhich shop in person and got the job because the manager loved me and my family. Not close at all by the way he just had a good feeling about me
@KWENCHY1994I'm not gonna lie, but this has actually worked for me. My friend was roommates with a someone who was in a band with a CIO at a company. Two years later he reached out to me for a position which I'm still at. That same company I referred three people all who got an interview. Unfortunately two of them did not get the job but certainly made it extremely far into the hiring process. So networking does go along way
@JustKen99I work at UPS as a package sorter. I'm ashamed that my introverted nature is what led me to not going for better types of jobs. Always terrified to face rejection. I probably missed out on dozens of opportunities because of it. Thanks for this video. It gives me some hope.
@tukos7370Just call a friend and tell you have few months till summer. That’s all.
@morisnakus6108The only people gaining employment from online applications are data miners.
@williamnemmers2583100% the only way I’ve ever gotten a job
@BijanIzadiThis is 10000% true
@thesocialintrovertchroniclesIve learned this recently.
I started with an application on the company's website initially, but once I got in I quickly met influential people in many different depts, I have switched depts once and many offers to go to other depts. Its a like, know, and trust mentally. I actually went to a dept i didnt know re: my husbands application and because I worked for the same company the manager asked for his name and said shecwould pull up his application. Networking is definitely the correct way of going about gettingva job, especially these days. Even if you've never worked somewhere before or know someone that does put in your application then go to the place and ask to talk to the manager. As long as you present yourself well they will be delighted that you took the initiative to come in person to introduce yourself. It will definitely give you a step up above the other candidates
True, my current job I networked through LinkedIn to get an interview
@churrhoHe is absolutely correct!!!Networking. Making yourself familliar in unfamiliar circles.
@janewx1Good advice here.
I landed my highest paying job by switching my job titles on Linkedin to something similar to the career I wanted to pursue. I also did a lot of studying on the subject of the career I wanted to land and got the job. You have to get very creative with job searching now. It's crazy out here.
It's been 2 years, and yeah, when it was easy to get software dev jobs in the late 2010s, they were all referrals.
@batlinI have gotten several jobs from the internet, but only because they required moving across the country. Every job I ever got 'locally' was because I knew someone, or 'networking' as you call it.
