Millennials: The Unluckiest Generation In Modern History?

Video Overview & Insights

Through bad luck, poor timing and worsening economic trends, millennials are turning into a lost generation. In this episode of Think Again, NBC News correspondent Andrew Stern talks to fellow millennials, sociologists and policy experts to break down how his generation finds itself on the brink of financial ruin.

Is it "unlucky" that the Boomers chose to elect fascists and hold on to power like it's dragon gold? No, its not that we got unlucky. Its that the Boomers are the worst, mot selfish generation in history, choosing to pull of the ladder behind them instead of using their financial success to make a better life for their children, country, and world.

I will end up working into my nineties, then die on the job, still single and childless, still broke, still renting.

Here we are again!!! With the world tariff and the recession. It like we can’t catch a breaking. I’m in tears because I been fighting ever since I’ve graduated high school. 😭 2 degrees, fail business. Done literally everything in my early 20 now in my late 30’s going in my 40’s still struggling and my peers around me. To add my parents are poor so I’m grateful for all they have done but I pretty much was on my own financially. Im not discouraged just exhausted. Whoever reading this, be encouraged, it doesn’t matter how old you are. If never too late to achieve your dreams. What keep me going is the mere fact that I don’t give up easily and I’ve experienced the highs and lows. Will push even harder in my middle-age.

they are definitely a bunch of whiny brats who think they’re entitled to everything without having to work for it.

Boomers saved their money. Millennials spend everything they make on entertainment.

They think their first car has to be new. They eat every meal out and pay for food delivery when they eat in. They spend exorbitantly on entertainment and fashion. They want new homes in the best neighborhoods. Wouldn’t dare live in a starter house. Honestly they disgust me. And they wonder why they can’t afford the American Dream. It’s because they make terrible decisions and they are selfish brats.

Just needed to work harder. I’m born in 84. I worked fast food for 12 1/2 years, working my way up as a manager as I put my way through school getting my bachelors. I worked 2 to 3 other job jobs at the same time and rented our rooms where I lived in the house that I bought as a result of predatory lending before the housing market crashed in 2008. I did not foreclose and I stayed in my home which is now a good chunk of my net worth.

I continue to work in the food service industry managing multiple locations and opening stores and then I started entry level and a completely different field, desk job. I had to take a 55% pay cut, but continue to work 2 to 3 other jobs and rent out rooms in my home. That job put me through school and I got a MBA as I’ve battled the pandemic and my inability to work other jobs that I had traditionally worked in sectors that were closed because of the pandemic. I continue to push through. It was easy, but it wasn’t easy for my grandparents to live on rations during World War II to build bomber planes, it wasn’t easy for my grandparents to live during the Great Depression, it wasn’t easy for my parents to whether the financial crash of the 1980s, and the family medical issues. It wasn’t easy for our Neanderthal ancestors to Hun and gather all day long in the sun without sunscreen. This is not a new phenomenon. We live in mattresses with screens and DoorDash. Enjoy it.

Millenial (34) here with burnout and depresion...

I really allways thought i was a unlucky bird with "Job jopping"... to see my fellow millenial fellows struggle with the same th!tty live on this planet slightly releave me a bit.

We are all born on top of a sinking ship, where we only were meant to be "rowing slaves" below deck.

Well... i wish us all Millenials a slightly meaningful live... hope we can at least get some meals that we can buy with our joke earnings...

we WERE.
Gen Z is the unluckiest until Gen Alpha comes of age then they will be, but only until Gen C grows up, then they will be and so on.

Millennials were never forced or drafted in a war, didn’t live through any Depression, willingly took on their own student debt like the rest of us, and yet they’re still the unluckiest generation. Oh “but Covid messed them up more than anyone else” explain to me how they’re bigger victims of Covid when older generations are literally dying from it to this day. You’re not the unluckiest you just complain the most

Just no these little waged wars against us have been completely purposeful they want you to be slaves working 5 jobs paying half your wages soo trump can give a massive tax break to the top which hes doing đŸ€” billionaires, centralized banks just really put the steroids to money printer America had a surplus of 800 billion and now deficit is 36 trillion and going up because when you consistently print money and give majority of it to billionaires and corporations their nothing to fund anything this system needs to be torn down it works for 2000 families their 330 million people in America this is all mostly due to fiat wealth creation being weaponized against masses in the hands of a few

If the success outcome of your career/work life comes down to something as uncontrollable as the timing of when you enter the workforce, the system is inherently flawed and needs to be restructured. Throw it away!!!

The problem is that even without a recession and the pandemic, the social and economic framework that rewarded hard work, sacrifice, and delayed gratification is no longer there. The baby boomers were right to rebel against certain social issues, but they made too many changes without understanding them, confusing future generations with life lessons that did not match the reality.

Millenials we’re set up to fail by the Boomers, their own parents. We in Gen X skated through unnoticed by either Boomers or Millenials, both of which were too into themselves to even take notice. In the early 90s we experienced an awful job market. Most people started out with low-wage jobs. Granted, things were far cheaper, so even poor, we could afford a a cheap apartment. The whole American economy needs to be rethought.

This is a joke right? A parody of some sort... millenials are wimps and it's just getting worse from there. Boomers had it the easiest, millenials definitely did not have it rough except their feelings were being hurt. Too sensitive and too entitled these days
