Micro Car Left For Dead - Parked 10 Years In a Field, Can I Revive It? - Diesel Power!
Video Overview & Insights
After sitting abandoned for 10 years in a field, this Aixam 500 diesel microcar is finally getting a second chance. In this video I check if the tiny diesel engine still turns, and see if I can get it running and drive it home after a decade of neglect.

Look out for the Lizard 🦎 in this video 😅
This is a real microcar revival — the Aixam 500 hasn’t moved in years, the tyres are flat, the brakes are seized, and it’s been left to the elements. Will it run again? Watch as we bring this forgotten little car back to life.
If you enjoy barn finds, field rescues, project cars, or small diesel engines, you’ll love this one. It’s amazing what these tough little Aixams can take!
Perhaps if you replace the drive clutch ?
Thanks for watching! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more revivals, and unusual classic projects.

@TiberiusMaximus"Come on, little one, u can do it!
Yay! U moved yourself!"
So much investment in such a little car.
Well done!
A los 42 minutos dice que no hagan eso de manejar con un pie y empujar con otro!!! Ya esta ya lo hice hace años en un fiat 600 del año 64!!!!
@juanmanuelgarciablanco2132We might hit 20 mph in a minute 😂
@stephenmcclean7500I used to work at a dealership here in the UK that sold them
@keepingbritishcars4309You could have picked it up and carried it out of the field!
@richardhobson599518:21 - little lizard gets evicted
@Allegromk2I would be a micro car guy if we had those here.... fun to watch your videos of weird cars... I owned 3 Simca 1204's while in college... and a English Sunbeam Alpine MK IV
@dc9808That's a lovely little thing, could do with a motorbike engine though about 500cc would be perfect
@scottm5425They've gone from 1 cylinder to 2 another 20 years evolvement they will have 4 cylinders and it could be called Peugeot 205 diesel
@Garry-kw4ccThey were sold in the UK, The dealer was Grays of Thrapston, Northamptonshire just up the road from me. I had a diesel Aixam because you can still drive them on an old style UK bike license.... The diesels are truly awful cars, there is no point fitting a stereo as you can't hear it over the noise of the engine. It regularly shredded its belt and the dealer would happily charge £80-90 for another until I found a local go kart place that sold the same belt for £20. I then bought a Petrol Aixam with the Lieger engine which was a much better car until I took my car test.
@doctordeeferNice car! Get the CVT renewed and it will be a reliable runner🧡
@richardwinfrey3217As a 300 pound dutch guy, a microcar would be quite a laugh. :'D
@S0K0N0MIHi man some of the bands in that car glove box are very different never herd them before 😊
@jessiehammond7833What make is the red car in the background?
@craigdowney3128I most likely live too far away to bother entering a raffle. (USA)
I do enjoy your videos though, so thank you for that.
You prove over and over that an adventure need not be a big adventure to be worth while.
Sadly, in most of USA these lovely little cars are not allowed on road ways.
I do not understand that, but those are the current rules.
Anyway, good video !
"Its fairly dumb, even by my standards." XD
@BillHeitmanSimilar arrangement to my Mega Multitruck chassis-wise. Just mine is a bit longer. The front subframe (which is an Aixam standard bit) is non treated steel, mine had some surface rust, so used rust converter/primer/hammerite to cover it. The ladder chassis behind that on my van is galvanised steel and then the quarter circle suppports for the rear springs (like on your car) are aluminium. Aside from the front subframe, the rest has held up pretty well - I've not done anything to those bits since I bought the van back in 2018.
Thanks for the video, which has been an interesting learning experience when comparing this car to my van (which also has the same Kubota Z402 engine).
Next get the minivan behind it
@exptoddI had the exact same car 10 years ago, an Aixam 400, only it didn't have electric windows and those rims. That Kubota engine was a mule, the rest of the car is short, but that engine never let you down. If you remove the variator locks (put in place by law to keep the speed no higher than 45 km/h), it can reach 75-80 km/h. I had removed the locks and put in a Ragazzon sports exhaust.😂 I had fun with it until I destroyed it in an accident. I'm lucky to be alive.
Thanks for the video im happy to see that the old AIXAM 400 is still rocking😍
4:01 No, not 'super', we say VERY annoying. We are not colonials, are we?
@TeeEff_32I love little cars like this. But i would never be able to fit in one tho
@xXHUGGINATORXxIf you drove that down in south US you would hear train horns and the crunch crunch as 14,000 3/4 ton truck drove over you cause he didn’t see you. I had a geo metro and that looks half that. Is that like the size of a smart car?
@moosenbeans903That was a long half mile! So entertaining to watch! Subbed
@NoraTTangRuns pretty good for ten years of sitting.
@GreyKnightErrantsqueeze clamp garage.
Derek we are bringing the thunder to euro golf trolly. ⛳️

C'est pas une sans permis elle à 4 places donc un quadricyle lourd permis B1 conduisible à partir de 16 ans en France
@julienchotard2356We need some simple inexpensive micros in the USA for neighborhood runabouts.
@lakecrabThey run all day until they stop running. I love the under bonnet sound-deadening. I wish I could find something like this in the USA.
@David-999-zit really didnt wana go to begin with but once it got moving 🙌🙌
@foundatlantisHow come it's right hand drive, or am I going mad?? Nice little car though. Great video Al.
@simonwatson5299Looks like a half size model of my Renault Modus... I quite like it. 👍

@happyfeet231259Question why is it that every car you buy seems to not have a radio in it anymore
@goldrush8770
