Matt’s style just doesn’t suit Pearl Jam plus he’s not a great drummer to begin with. Average at best. Dave Abbruzzese on the other hand, he’s a truly great drummer. It’s sad they let him go because without him Pearl Jam is an average band at best.

Matt is the GOAT. Does he swing this song as much as the original? No, but that's a band decision not just a drummer decision and quite frankly swinging can muddy the waters in terms of live performances especially timing. They needed a deadly consistent versatile drummer with impeccable timing, drive and power. That's what Matt provided.

A lot of basement kooks in the comments here (of 0 rhf bands, let alone 2) not understanding that it was the bands idea to play this song at a higher tempo. They've played it so many times live they made a decision to speed up the tempo. Not MCs idea, you goombahs. Have an issue take it up with the band. Urgh god phuck, you're a drumming brand for god's sake, get the video in sync with the audio. There's NOTHING more jarring than an out of sync drumming video. I could see it in the first seconds just with the hihats and then that first crash hit, there's hunderds of milliseconds delay between the audio and seeing him even reach out to strike it. Urgh it's unwatchable, and I haven't even played drums for around 30 years. I will say that I remember your brand though because I bought some cheap sticks out of a clearance bucket (which turned out to be yours) and those things lasted way longer than any other brand I'd used up to then - they took an absolute hammering before snapping. So if I ever dabble again I'll be hoping your sticks are still up to snuff 🙂

Absolutely snoozing through it. A great drummer playing a lazy cover version. This is THE song that highlights Abbruzzese’s attack and groove. Cameron plays it like a cruise ship cover band 👎

I love Matt and all but he destroys early PJ music. It's not his style which is fair enough. The song is awesome either way but I think Matt ruins it badly Also when they do Hail Hail, he annihilates the drum beat on that, especially the bass drum. He overdoes it which is very easy to do if you don't go listen to the original to understand how important it is to limit the hits. it dilutes the song
