People always want to downplay Greenville, but it has major stores like Topgolf and an Apple Store. Its metropolitan area is projected to exceed one million people by 2026—you should get your facts straight. We are talking about a metro area reaching over a million people; it’s the first of its kind in South Carolina. And if you include neighboring Spartanburg—since there is no gap between them—you are looking at an area of 1.6 million people. Chattanooga is small by comparison. That’s without even considering city limits, which are very strict in South Carolina.

I grew up in East Ridge, sandwiched between Chattanooga and yeh Georgia state line. I did not hear you say anything about crime. Just turn on channel 3 and evening and in one week you will hear about at least one murder or attempted murder. Also you mentioned Chattanooga being I think you said six and a half hours from the beach, but did not mention that those beach trips take you right through Atlanta, or Birmingham, nor the fact that Greenville is only about 4 hours from Myrtle Beach of 3 and a half hours from Charleston with no major cities to go through to get there.
Both I believe are very important factors in comparisons.

I’ve lived In both places and currently in Chattanooga. Greenville is nice with easy driving to the mountains and the beach. Greenville has everything you need but has a small town feel. Good job opportunities especially at BMW. Chattanooga is a little more in decay with business closing and high crime. Great outdoors experience with the river, lake and mountains. Chattanooga is close to Atlanta or Nashville for shopping and entertainment. TVA and VW are good job opportunities. I give a slight edge to Chattanooga but both cities are good choices.

@joeburton7784One important thing you didn't cover is the crime rate which is a big factor for most people.Chattanooga crime rate happens to be one of the highest in the US.
@deejay6016If I understand correctly (timestamp 11:42), you said that 401k distributions are taxed in Tennessee. That is incorrect. I have been retired for almost 6 years and I have never paid any Tennessee taxes on my 401k distributions.
@r.s.5431I moved to Greenville. I had thought about Chattanooga a while back but didn't know much about it, I thought maybe there were fewer jobs and maybe a lot more rural, but this video makes it sound amazing. I'll put it back in my radar for the future.
@DemiigoddGreat video as usual. Also, I found that SC taxes one annually on their vehicles. 6% for cars/trucks and 10.5% for RV’s. Deal breaker when you have a couple of both.
In my research Greenville has A LOT more restaurants and box stores, even an Apple store. The income tax @ 6% was an issue but add on the vehicle taxes and it is unfortunately a no go. Too bad as it really looked AMAZING!
Excellent video. I love both ciities and have been to both. How about airports? I've flown in and out of Greenville and it's fine, but there's pretty much always a layover in Atlanta or Charlotte. Also, does Chattanooga have any kind of performing arts venue? Greenville has the Peace Center which is surprisingly nice. Greenville gets a lot of news for food, but Chattanooga has a great scene, too. I love Public House. As it is, I am totally stuck between the two cities. They are both awesome!
