I believe luck is when external circumstances align perfectly with what you have prepared for. Sometimes, no matter how prepared you are, an unexpected question or obstacle arises that works against you. But if you are lucky, that specific issue never comes up. Just my thoughts! Otherwise, great advices, especially the storytelling part.

1. it is not about you
2. the one thing
3. you don’t have to be boring even if your field is boring
4. don’t care about negative comments of those not being in the arena with you / if you try to please everyone, you please no one since you take no action / not all people are thinking always about you.

The second question is bro u tell as tools and structure but u don’t use it why for example bro u say pouse when you talk slow when you talk and etc but u don’t use all the time and the things that u teach us but do u know some thing i like it it’s more beautiful and 2x better even when u don’t use it the way u explain it it’s look like you’re too close friend I feel that I don’t know if other peoples feel the same I feel

I always like asking a fun question at the end of my interview, related to my hobby. Then if we both like that hobby, chat about that for the last 5 minutes. I find every time I do that I get the job.

I always get very self-consicous when I talk in front of a group of people, whether they are my friends or coworkers. I liked the idea about shifting my mindset from focusing on myself to focusing on OTHERS, the mindset of "sounding competent" to "helping others".

These presentation tips are exactly what I needed! I'm the developer of BeLikeNative, a Chrome extension that helps you write more naturally in any language. You highlight your speaker notes or slide text, press a keyboard shortcut, and it polishes everything to sound more professional. Super helpful when preparing presentations in a second language. It supports 80+ languages and everything runs locally on your device. Full disclosure, I built this and happy to answer any questions!

@BeLikeNative
@

The part about rambling really hit home. I used to write long emails and messages trying to sound smart, and it always had the opposite effect. One shift that helped me was treating written communication with the same intentionality Vinh talks about for speaking. I started using a Chrome extension called BeLikeNative to simplify my writing. You highlight a sentence and it rewrites it to be clearer and more natural. There's literally a "Simplify This" mode that strips out the fluff. The interesting thing is it trains you to notice when you're overcomplicating things, which is basically the anti-rambling muscle Vinh describes here. Works in Gmail, Slack, Notion, everywhere. Really useful if you communicate a lot in writing for work and want to be more concise.

He made 6 points, I can only remember 2 due to all the rambling and repetition…..

@squidbubbly

I think Aristotle’s “The only way to avoid criticism is to do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing” is way more succinct than Roosevelt’s rambling…..

@squidbubbly
@

He says you shouldn’t ramble and repeat, then spends 5 minutes making the same point over and over again….
