One big question, specially for these asian languages, how is the voice ?
Does that actually sound good? One thing that I see a lot is awkward pronunciation generated by these AI features.

You gave a 非常好的 intro to LingQ for 普通话 learners.

It is a horrible program, very tedious to use, ineffective and time consuming.

The app is just so addictive really! I cannot stop scrolling and learning

Totally agree on the foundation part at the end, I use lingq after finishing duolingo and similar apps.

Well. I like lingQ, but you need DRM free books. So, it isn‘t so simple…

I really like your channel. My son is 2 and I've taught him a lot of basic English and Spanish but I want to start learning Mandarin so we can learn together. He definitely seems to pick up words faster than I do 😅 it's interesting to watch the interviews you do. Thank goodness for subtitles tho... 😅

That import feature is nice, I like how you can build a scrapbook of things you want to work with later, or things you might want to return to and eventually memorise (like song lyrics). Things like Duolingo are great for getting the fundamentals down, but at some point you have to start immersing yourself in real content in that language, so I can see this being great when you're at that stage! Having the built-in word lookup and spaced repetition stuff feels like it would help things go a lot faster too (having to go look a word up ~again~ in another tab is a great motivator for actually remembering it though!)

I think it|s really good and plan to come back to it, but after having studied for about 3 months, it's still too much active work to get any meaning out of it and so I don't think it really works well to mass consume as a total beginner. Some people think otherwise, just my experience.

I did find LingQ to be opaque as an absolute beginner, and rather boring. Once the language acquisition ball gets rolling it seems like a useful tool.

I love the amazing variety of your videos, Jessie. You might be demonstrating a product (such as in this video) or you might review a movie with Li, ... or you might just be out walking around the city. You are never "stuck in a rut" with your videos. That's why we keep coming back for more! 🙂

其实我从头到尾使用lingq 自学汉语。我觉得这个软件有这么多的优秀。大家都应该至少尝试一次

Aren't you working on Cantonese? It would be interesting to see a video later about your experience using it to improve your Canto!

6:10 Getting used to the sounds of your target language through extended listening (even though it is not comprehensible yet) IS the ‘strong foundation’. It only feels overwhelming if you expect to understand things right off the bat. First listen, accept the unfamiliarity, then let curiosity guide your learning.

At least for Ukrainian Linq is designed to work out of the box for someone with no knowledge of the language. Linq uses the correct methods of learning vocabulary actively in context with sample sentences and learning grammar implicitly along the way. I guess other languages have a free trial or unlocked basic lessons? Definitely give it a try!

Linq for Ukrainian was free, idk if it still is. I tried it, it's an effectivelearning tool, better than duolingo for sure!
