My parent got divorced when I was 5. My dad got custody of my brother and I and moved to another city. When I was 10, my dad agreed we were now old enough to visit our mom every now and then. But we only got to see her once a year because of the cost of transportation and school restrictions.
I heard this song when I was about 12 on one of our visits to our mom and it became me and my big brother’s favorite song. It was my mom’s favorite song at the time as well and we will sing it together while doing chores especially on weekends.
So whenever I hear this song today, I can help but cry my eyes out. Those days used to be very complex. Within the one month a year we got to see our mom, she showed us the best love. And when it’s a was time to go back, it hurt very bad. Now I get to see her whenever I want cos I’m all grown now but I’m still hurt by the opportunity we missed to have our family together till the end. ❤❤❤❤❤
