It was a rainy evening, and I was flipping through old records at a secondhand shop when I found a worn copy of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. I took it home, placed it on the turntable, and as those first notes of “Acknowledgement” filled the room, I was transfixed. The music wasn’t just sound; it was a conversation, a prayer, a journey. Coltrane’s saxophone seemed to speak directly to my soul, weaving a story of struggle, hope, and transcendence. That moment was a revelation, and I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
What I love most about jazz is its freedom. Unlike other genres that often follow rigid structures, jazz is a rebellion against constraint. It’s the sound of musicians breaking free, improvising, and creating something new in the moment.
