I used to be involved in local politics with my friends who were way more political. I was the “diversity hire” with my engineering direction in college 😂. My guy friends who were entrenched in politics and studied poli sci and history opened up the world of gossip to me. Now, I know we shouldn’t be gossiping, and I do try to avoid it more nowadays (especially that I heard clear definitions of lashon hara). However, there would have been no way to know how terrible someone would be for leadership unless we got the gossip. And it does make sense bc if you can’t be respectful in normal interpersonal relationships (and even employer-employee ones with all the college students you hire for your campaign), you can’t be trusted to work well with other elected officials. When someone’s actions are meant to affect several people’s lives, it’s your duty to find out if they’ve got a pattern worthy of leadership. There were many people in my political party I was told to never vote for bc of the gossip, and it turns out they were clout-chasers who wanted nothing to do with helping and everything to do with title. Ik gossip isn’t ok, but it’s been a great tool politically.

He’s probably telling the truth about that tattoo I served with dudes that had confederate flags SS lightning bolts and everything else. I don’t know if the rich people at home, realize it or not but if you sign up for the Air Force or the navy you probably just want a good career. But if you want to get your hands, dirty and get into the shit, you joined the other branches that’s the mentality of people that kill people for a living.
