La La Land's Bittersweet Love Story | Right Person, Wrong Time
Video Overview & Insights
On the surface, La La Land may look like a generic and predictable love story that you've seen a million times. But fans of this movie will tell you that this story leaves you with plenty of mixed emotions. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling deliver incredible performances and director, Damien Chazelle, creates an ending that will be stuck on your mind for years to come. Let's see how they accomplished this.
The premise of Chazelle's love story is two dreamers who have to choose between a once in a lifetime love, or the spotlight . There is nothing romantic about a self absorbed partner who chooses the latter. As a love story, this movie will age poorly

God, Mia and Sebastian's Theme makes me cry every single fucking time it is so beautiful and bittersweet and i love it so much. I love this movie, the ending we got was what was best for them even if I cry profusely at it, we would not have remebered the movie as well if they actually ended up toghether becuase then it would just be any other romance film. I love La La Land and I feel like watching it now. Great video!

La La Land has a happy ending.
SEB wanted and got his club. Mia wanted to be a movie star and she is. Neither character said they want their relationship above everything in their lives.
This becomes clear in the scene where Mia is going to Paris to make the movie. They are indifferent as to the future of the relationship. After all, they broke up over SEB selling out his dream and missing Mia’s one woman play.
Seb still cares about Mia. He receives Mis’s callback phone call. If he was a jerk he would have ignored the call. Rather than just call her he drives to her home. He argues with her to return to LLL for the audition. He drives her back to LLL. This doesn’t sound like the actions of an indifferent other. SEB could have accompanied Mia to Paris. Another American in Paris. Instead he stays in LLL to pursue his dream.
Mia is successful in her movie career. Presumably she finds love after the movie. SEB is living alone but has his club and music. Neither character was willing to give up part of their dream for their relationship. Seb’s sellout showed both characters the cost of following that route.
SEB and Mia both have artistic dreams. Both achieved their dreams. It was not meant to be that they walk hand in hand into the sunset in the third reel of their movie. It could have happened but didn’t. They both choose not to have that happy ending together. They will always remember the love they had. They then move on.
Be careful of what you wish for. You may get it.

Ending might be real for real people in real life but not for these two. Made zero sense and that they couldn't be together.

Great commentary. My favorite of this movie was Emma Stone went to this pool party, spotted Gosling and dance on I ran’. Then she pointed at Gosling, he just told you to follow the Band lead singer. Of course the last part like your description. Light knob to each other we acknowledged each other for happiness.

i am 45 .... but its really hurt for me, great movie , with great performances .... Emma & Ryan the best
@attilavarga79Somehow I missed this movie when it came out, and I kept on missing it...and then I saw in January that it was on Netflix with the "Leaving Soon!" tag attached, and I was home alone because my wife was out of town, so I watched it by myself. I haven't been hit between the eyes by a movie THIS hard in a LONG time. My wife got home a couple days later, and that night I said, "Wanna watch a movie?" and I cued this up again. So, LA LA LAND has lived rent-free in my head for just a couple of months now, but it's perfectly welcome to live there. Great video!
