The Turks were nomadic peoples in the history. Before and After Islam, animals were really important for the Turks. Their life passed with their horses. They raised cattle and sheep. They were pet the wolfdogs for their sheep flocks. Now, in modern times; their cat loves reflection of this. Their animal love coming from their nature :)

I live in Istanbul as a foreigner and it's a shame the same courtesy isn't extended to the dogs. Theres a mass poisoning campaign now for them

Friend of mine lived and taught there for two years recently, and had a particular cat who would look for her on her way to and from school every day. Quite remarkable.

The people of Istanbul seem to have found a way to be able to live in the modern day, while keeping a tradition of their ancient past.
Stray cats are part of the community, working individuals, members of their neighborhoods, contributers to the character and in many levels, the wellbeing of the city and it's people.

This film was as beautiful love letter to that relationship and I wish other nations found a way to emmulate this wonderful dynamic.

Thanks to the cats, it is so beautiful. A cat passing by the butcher looks at me and says "meow" as if asking for my help, reminding me of my humanity in this tangible world. Sometimes I take a piece of liver and give it away. It's so special that he only notices me from the crowd. "I chose you!" it's like he says. They have found a way to see the good that we cannot see.
