How many more tears and regrets would be there if your son was the one who got stabbed and died for no real reason. God loves the sinner, but not the sin. As parents we should always love our children, but not what they choose to do or not do. Justice is supposed to be blind for a reason, you and others are looking through rose-colored glasses, which doesn’t allow you to see your son is a murder. Love your son-be honest about his crime. The only people that keep racism alive, are those who refuse to stop being the victim.

Why aren't the parents paying for his legal fees. If black people want to move to Africa from America then fine. However the Africans may not like it. The real racists are the people calling for reparations the people who blame Austin Metcalf the people who say if you're white you are the problem. This type of person if they did move to Africa would called Africans racist. They want all the benefits with no responsibilities or accountability fir their actions. The are the "victims" they always will be in their minds when they are not. I feel sorry for other black people perhaps being "lumped" in with this type of racist mentality.

Maybe instead of using the go fund me money on themselves, they should have spent it on a good defense attorney. Although I doubt even the best defense lawyer could have gotten Karmelo off with out serving any jail time.

Why are we paying any attention to his parents? They're the ones that put him in that position. Obviously, there was racism in that family, hatred of another's race, and here we have the results. The best they can do, provide for their son while in prison. Quit playing the race card, and for once, be there as parents for your son, not always carrying the blame card around. Senseless death.

@SS1LE_R32It's NOT about sticking up for one's self when the murder was premeditated. The knife was effectively concealed and smuggled onto the campus and onto the sports field with the intent to commit murder. The knife was concealed in a gym bag and easily accessible to the killer as it was clearly his intent to provoke a conflict by sitting in a tent meant for an opposing team. And as the conflict escalated, the killer was asked, if not told, to leave the tent many times. And the killer could have left the tent peacefully, but instead of leaving peacefully, he acted on his premeditated plan, and his intent that day, to kill on the basis that he was prepared with a concealed and easily accessible weapon. That was NOT self-defense on the basis that he was not being attacked nor was his life in imminent danger, nor was there was ever any intent nor action by the victim to harm, injure, or threaten the life of the killer. On that basis, the killing was absolutely "cold blooded murder".
