Too much. A Rav4 serves a similar market beginning $15k less.
German auto makers use their American customers as ATMs. Profit way too high .

Believe me, I have one; the thing is SLOW and it is even worse if you use 87 gas and Sam's or Costco gas. ALWAYS use premium from big name gas distributors in this thing, a world of difference...

MSRP on the Tiguan turbo is like highway speed limits. Merely a suggestion. You can get these for thousands off MSRP.

IMO, the Tiguan R-Line is the hottest compa t SUV on the market. I test drove it and it is absolutely amazing.
BUT...all screens turned me way off. I haaaaate this all screen trend and I backed off for that reason alone.
More User Perspectives
Just picked ours up last week, very impressed, was gonna buy a q5 and the q5 doesn't even compare! I here if you put 93 octane, you get more power
@daren9721@1:33 If I recall, Motor Week got 6.7 0-60.
@10:40 Like all car reviews you leave out the critical point when referring to the high fuel economy of hybrids: they cost more to buy and to maintain. In addition that Toyota PHEV needs to be plugged in for maximum range and horse power. The last time I checked, electricity wasn't free.
@11:42 A clean uncluttered, unobstructed cargo compartment. Thank you for that.
Anyway, the Tiguan is NOT in anyway, form, or fashion a performance SUV. Other than the exterior cladding, it makes not pretense or claims that it's configured for performance.
VW has a performance division and those cars get the dedicated "R" badging. The "R-Line" is not that kind of car. The R-Line means sporty looks ONLY. At present, only the Golf comes in R (performance) in North America.
Although the new turbo boosted motor gives it more pep, but it is in no way a GTI. Nor does it pretend to be. There's a reason it doesn't come with exposed tail pipes.
In addition, the GTI has less hp, but it does come with a dual clutch transmission and you can option dynamic dampers (DCC). None of which are available on the Tiguan.
Piano black is the devil!!!! 😂
@macmichaelhenson-rogers9850You keep mentioning the high price….the top trim for the competitors is almost exactly the same price. AND, you get a lot less in those. You can’t even get leather seats in the RAV4
@scottbarnes4549I'm very happy you guys like it, its one of the best selling cars in Europe, but... Not with that engine... Great Video TFLNow!
@jonascampelo871"About what I would expect from the thumbnail." Geez, you guys need to come up with some better ideas. Tiguan has historically been the LEAST reliable vehicle in the segment -- for YEARS. "I like to choose vehicles from the top of reliability lists, not the bottom." But you guys can just keep on screaming vroom vroom vroom as you revel in the colorful interior. "Lipstick on a pig."
@tom_hoots"Unfortunately I do" 😂
@MrSetter87I couldn't care less about the Tiguan but I love the Van Halen Jump video cover....
@henryford2736Volkswagen needs to bring their diesel back to America
@bradolsen8629Not everybody wants a hybrid. They cost more to insure and more things to fix as the car gets older. Also that annoying whining noise that hybrids make.
@Hotscorpion75How about calling it the Tiguan GT? There was a suped up Passat a few years ago called Passat GT.
@andyk6796The reason for the bump in power is the new Turbo. Learned it from The Car Care Nut Reviews channel.
@MyViewTorontoI got a 2024 Santa Fe that has more tech, more comfort, more accessibility and use of a 3rd row.
Interior is goofy. UI is 🗑️. Integrated HVAC and slide controls are odd.
They say the massaging seats are very soothing while waiting for your tow truck to arrive.😂
@Steve-n8i8qBoston Auto Blog has a long term review of this Tiguan and says it isn't sporty like a bigger GTI. He says it either needs softer suspension and more sound insulation to make it more luxurious or firmer suspension and a dsg transmission to make it sportier. In its current configuration it's a nice vehicle but does neither luxury nor sporty well from a driving perspective.
@Defy_Conventionwouldn't it be compared to the Audi q3 since the q5 is significantly larger? a base q3 undercuts this Tiguan on price and is probably built better.
@Kahless00Yeah, I look the looks and the performance, but not the reliability. I like fewer problems overall. Maybe in retirement when I have more time to deal with issues at either the dealership or my own service shop.
@jpmiller99Please stop jumping in your thumbnails like a couple of tools from a ‘90s Toyota commercial
@ScoobyFermentationI would definitely pass on any vehicle that has the badge Volkswagen on it. That company has been constantly plagued with defective and faulty vehicles. I never had that much trust before and for sure not now with all the bad publicity that Volkswagen has been receiving constantly.
@davidabernathy4553A 2L 4cyl produce 268hp isn't that scary? My car has 3.5L V6 and produce only 245hp!
@tuan056585Jen!🤎
