Is Tehran the biggest winner? | DW News

Video Overview & Insights

A temporary, US sanctions waiver could unlock billions for Iran’s economy and reshape global oil markets. But who really benefits, and how far could this go?

"Teapot refiners” have long been the primary buyers of Iranian crude. These are Chinese independent refiners (not state-owned) that are — contrary to what the name suggests — actually quite large and sophisticated refiners located in Shandong province. "Teapot refiners” tend to be more insulated from Western financial services and Western financial institutions and dollar trade.

No US is biggest winner here. America wants all oil producing countries sell their oil in $ and Iran and Venezuela are now sell their oil in dollar. So blood dollar will continue flowing and US will keep printing fiat money and pass on the inflation to the world 😂😂😂 . Dumb journalism.

You cannot be an American if you jump with joy and chant victory for Iran. I am an Asian American who love this country more than you who are born here. How can you call yourself an American if you hate this country and are happy if the enemies win against it? Because I came from a communist country, I appreciate every aspects of the US. I can tell you this country is blessed by God and if you hate this country, why are you here? Because of this country, you have your choice to leave it and go and live in another country.

One thing that you so-called experts leave out is that the gulf states assisted the US and Israel to attack Iran and it’s fair game for Iran to target them. This channel is garbage.

It is about time, and surely the people who caused all this to be successful will benefit as well. Hope the now popular government will eliminate few unfit officials, with the same speed as punishing people who backed enemies in this war. Then enemies will be even more envious of us for having a perfect country.

I wish our government would realize that we lost the war and act like it and shut their mouth negotiate a good settlement. Iran deserves to have anything any other country is allowed to have by international law. Who are we to tell them how to run their country?

Even if it's permanent it's not permanent. Those sanctions can be immediately reimposed. It's still behavior contingent.

Even the US wins. The sanctions on Iran and Russia were biggest leakages in the US dollar's dominance as a global currency as they sought to trade their oil using alternative currencies especially Yuan.
With the sanctions lifted, the dollars can flow back

@SBK001-RnS
@

Remind your expert to use the terms correctly, it is “Persian Gulf”.

@elhamgolpayegani4778

What about all of the murder of civilians in Iran by Israel in the US? I would condemn them much more than Iran, especially as they started the war. Furthermore, Iran has been careful to not kill civilians in this war, and not to overreact with disproportionate force, as Israel has done.

@barrybarnett1769
@

Be quiet

@sherryclay4323
@

Sanctions lifted, assets returned, and in turn they promise to drop nuclear and cross fingers not to fund Hezbollah and other key allies.

Either Iran will have to betray its allies, or the US will put the Israel-Lebanon situation off the table, and let that be its own separate issue.

@TheDunningKrugerEffectisReal

Safe to say people of Iran would not get any benefit. The money goes to making more drones. Missiles or giving to heziballah

@ElisiaCarrachino

Russia and China will vie to become Iran's BFF consolidating essentially a large portion of oil reserves and the control over the Strait of Hormuz. This would put the USA at a distinct disadvantage mainly because of how this administration has been treating its long term allies - Canada, EU and the UK. These nations will do whatever they need to do for their survival. So, our best allies are going to be Saudi Arabia, Qatar Pakistan and Israel? How is that a good strategy for the US?

@BikesnBreads
@

😂.. so the US and Israel fought the regime and ended up giving the regime more money ( lost money and the ability to make more money and even have a stronger IRGC and support its proxies with more funds). Will this new development affect the Bazaari positively? Or just more money for the IRGC?
