Numbers 21:8 “The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”
2 Kings 18:4 - “He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it.”
Hashem authorizes people and objects to perform tasks for particular purposes and they have the authority of the Lord but the Lord is the ultimate authority.
One can speak on behalf of the Lord and not be the Lord. To say that they are one could simply mean he has authorization to serve as the voice of God for a specific purpose without being God.
My view on this is bound to Romans 11:29 and Numbers 23:19
“God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?”
God is outside of time and space but he does choose people to speak for him. The Children of Abraham were chosen for a specific purpose and the children of Israel another specific purpose. Jesus was a child of Israel and his purpose was his own but, it was not outside of God’s plan.
He came to fulfill the covenant.
