Two-thirds of women 40-59 years old are overweight and more than 1/2 are obese. Intermittent fasting can help women lose weight effectively. And can have profound impact on bio-physical profiles, but also improved self esteem and interpersonal relationships. It is easy to implement, it is inexpensive and flexible.

I just started intermittent fasting 5 days ago with the target of loosing 9- 10kg. I eat a healthy high protein, veg & carbs for dinner, accompanied with a protein shake to make sure I have adequate protein intake. This meal is at 4.30pm. I have nothing else throughout the day except water, no coffee or anything.
What suprised me is that I'm waking up feeling so much better & don't even want or need caffeine, I feel great! I'm logging my weight everyday & I seem to be loosing 0.6 - 0.7kg a day. It's just burning it away. I wish I tried this long ago. Ketosis is a wonderful thing! And you are correct about timing of meals, I was listening to Andrew Huberman say the exact the same thing a few days back.

Free, flexible, and simple." Absolutely love this talk. Fasting does wonders for the mind. For anyone looking to combine the physical benefits with a spiritual reset, tracking a 21 day fasting prayer and gratitude journey is highly recommended. It keeps your mind busy and focused when you aren't eating!

She lost me when she mentioned removing alcohol from your diet. Americans love alcohol, and intermittent fasting won’t work if you can’t stick with it. I do the 16/8 fast, but I definitely still drink alcohol and eat dessert. I’m seeing results, and I can keep it up indefinitely.

Fasting is for everyone. Those people she said should not being doing it are the main ones TO do it.

Ok but 7 years later there is SO much data about insulin resistance late in the day and how eating early in the day is beneficial. People need to understand that just because it works for one person doesn’t mean that it’s wrong for everyone else. Listen to your body.

Before I started fasting, I was already in good shape, not over weight, in the gym 3 days a week and looked great. However I really didn't feel optimal. But when I went to a 16:8 fasting schedule I was amazed how much better I felt. I definitely sleep better. I never did any tests but I feel certain that this fasting schedule has improved my hormonal balance.

I dont believe there is anything wrong in snacking if it is the right foods such as nuts and fruit, rather than crisps/chips and biscuits.

I fast every day. I sleep for 8 hours so I just fasted for 8 hours. I go all the way to 6:00 pm and finally eat a meal. I’m drinking water throughout the day but I’m not eating. It works for me.

Why isn't IF recommended for those over 70? I'm 60, eat one meal a day and fast 3 to 5 days every month. I'll still be doing it when I'm 70. No dementia for me thanks.

I reckon OMAD (one 30 minute eating a day) is the way to go

I started IF in November 2022. At the time, I was morbidly obese and weighed 146.5kgs. Fast forward to February 2026, I now weigh 78kgs and in maintenance mode for over a year. What really helped me was prolonged fasting. My injuries have healed and brain clarity is outstanding. For mine, fasting is a godsend. Morphing from a ketogenic state into autophagy has done wonders to improve my health and wellbeing.

@whatsupwithyou5984

I prefer skipping dinner than skipping breakfast imo... its easiest to wane of the hunger by sleeping it off... have breakfast and lunch within the 8 hr window and just fast for the remaining 16 hrs

I gave up processed sugar & started intermittent fasting 6 weeks ago. I do 18-6 which works great for me. I’m such a fussy eater so I do have a hard time finding protein sources that I like. I don’t like eggs or meat or lentils but I’ve been experimenting with different recipes that have a high protein content. I will never go back to eating three meals a day. I don’t need it. Two is perfect for my body.

I think it's of ultra importance, if U think of horses on top of being wormed regularly they also need what is it drenching like once a year?

I finally started IF as I just needed to find something that worked for me after I gained 35 lbs from menopause and cancer years ago . So far I can tell it is a game changer . I have way more energy , clarity and I have lost 8 lbs in less than 3 weeks . I’m excited to continue my journey .
