Inside The US Military’s Massive Global Transportation System

Video Overview & Insights

The US Army's logistics operation to deploy M1 Abrams tanks overseas is one of the most complex peacetime military operations in the world — and when troops are in contact, the speed of this pipeline is the difference between reinforcement and fighting without armor. From domestic Army bases to strategic railheads, across thousands of miles of commercial rail network, through Gulf Coast seaports, and onto massive Roll-On Roll-Off cargo ships crewed by civilians, this is the machine that projects American ground combat power across the planet.

Trevor taking notes rn:

In this video, we follow the full deployment chain: 87 Abrams tanks, 152 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and over four thousand pieces of equipment as they move from Fort Stewart, Georgia to the Middle East. You'll discover how the Army loads 70-ton tanks onto specialized DODX flatcars with inches of clearance, why federal law gives Amtrak priority over a billion dollars in military armor, how a single failed inspection at the Port of Beaumont cascades through the entire load sequence, and why the civilian merchant mariners of Military Sealift Command are the final — and most surprising — link in the chain.

This is the infrastructure behind American power projection. It runs on borrowed trains, civilian sailors, and ships older than the people crewing them.

I'm not sure if anyone knows but is the train government owned also or is it commercial working with the military?

SO at 0:01 you say there are 87 Abraham Tanks, 152 Bradleys & 4,000 other vehicles, but at 13:31 its says the ship can only hold 58 tanks, 48 Bradleys & 900 other vehicles. So someone screwed up as they need more than 1 ship to transport all the vehicles. Also a 1mile long train has 84 x 68ft carriages. Even in you have 2 Abrahams tanks to 1 carriage (you said they can only have one) they will use 44 carriages. That means you will have 3913 vehicles to fit on the remaining 40 carriages🤔 Even if you got 4 of these vehicles to 1x carriage you will need another ELEVEN trains!!!

The US left enough tanks and armaments in Vietnam, and it was also enough to defeat a small country… OH, wait!
It also left enough machinery and armaments in Afghanistan, and it was also enough to defeat a small country… OH, wait.

Wow.. all that money spent is sickening, all the history of the trauma, loss and suffering that is war, yet it still goes on and the war machine just gets bigger. We humans are truly deranged and sick to still continue this path of militarisation. Our future generations should be taught the truth of war at an early age, with hope, inspire them not to join the military, and become robot killers or be killed for the military industrial complex. We should all be ashamed, I am.

Comment 29: SEIZED. This does NOT leave the U.S. I still do NOT have my birth certificate, my passport, my driver's license or my Social Security card after FOUR AND A HALF YEARS and tomorrow is the budget deadline.

Welp that explains how effective is US military's logistics network when even a Burger King truck can shipped overseas to other countries' combat zones.

If it's only one M1 Abrams per Car then why does the video show two per car?

Also if the base is in Georgia and it's sending equipment to the middle east. Why doesn't it freight the equipment to the eastern Atlantic coast which is much closer and launch on a ship from there. Rather than freighting it across so many different states all the way out to Louisiana before launching from the Gulf?
