Great video, have not visited this zoo, ( yet, deffinetelly on the list) but from the video it seems the zoo would benefit from a scale down on the number of species and improove some of the encosures. And also will there be a video on Dvůr Králové Zoo ? It's deffienetly worth a visit.

Not sure if you already have plans on what zoos to visit next, but you absolutely NEED to see zoo zlín. It's absolutely stunning, huge, full of beautiful architecture and totally underrated, i think you'd love it!

Thanks for the video! I must say, If there woud be only one zoo in Czech republic it would be zoo Zlín. I hope you will get to visit it (soon!) as i consider it better than Prague zoo i n many regards.

Great video. I hope you can make videos on Zoo Antwerp and Pairi Daiza in Belgium. Besides, here are my suggestions for new zoos you should visit: Beekse Bergen in the Netherlands, Zoologico Lisboa and Oceanario de Lisboa in Portugal, and Tiergarten Schonbrunn in Austria. For the playlists, you forgot to add Usti nad Labem to your playlist on zoos in Czechia and Ouwehands Dierenpark to your playlist on zoos in the Netherlands. I'm really excited for the videos on Chester Zoo and Yorkshire Wildlife Park. To answer your question, in such a species-rich zoo, I would like to see a bongo, yaks, and the aardwolf.

Plzen being one of the only big czech zoos I havent visited it always bugs me could I ask if you have gone to Zlín Zoo as it is my favorite zoo in the world and when I think of it I can't think of a single poor enclosure there

Hi. So Pilsen zoo is my childhood zoo. I wisit ever zearto take some photos of barbary lions. I like how calm the zoo is next to Prague for example. The problemm I have with this zoo is that it kind of misses big habitat space. Also my friend worked here and doesn´t have the best experience with staff.... I was also in the back stage of theyre reptile dome which is part of the zoo, just located in the town and really loved it there. That´s all i had in mind, now I´ll go watch the actual video :)

- They also plan to expand and buy big land but have problem with town or something like that. I believe that they´ll try to improve, they just need money. I think that covid took lots of mney from them.

- Also last monday (I think) died Babbuu, the indian rhinoceros which I saw last year and havent oportunity to see this year ....

This zoo was build in 1926 which makes her second oldest zoo build in czech republic (Zoo Liberec 1904) so almost all of the enclosures are REALLY old. They plan lot of renovations but it takes time and money... Still I hate seeing lots of animals pacing

I'm sorry to say my one visit to this establishment was far too short and I'd clearly only scratched the surface. Hope to visit again some time in the future

The Hausa Genets are actually rare being held at only 4 mainland European collections. Also worth mentioning the Kagu and the only Iranian Spider-tailed Horned Vipers on display in the world (a big reason for my trip to Plzen earlier this year!)

when i was last there a lemur had escaped and was just chilling on a railing so i cautiously petted it. it was very soft.

ZOO Pilsen is a good and interesting ZOO over all. It´s kinda a maze and you have to check the map and look into various hidden places to find all animals. Some exhibits are obviously old and could be larger because the welfare standards used to be far lower in the Eastern Europe in the past, so they have to be rebuilt one by one.
On the other hand the African savannah enclosures and hippo pond are very large and awesome. I also liked the actual rocks in the ZOO area being used as the base for exhibits for species living in the rocky environment.
The underground exhibit with some nocturnal or cave animals in an old mine is very cool and original, and so is the newer exhibit with local species of fish called Česká řeka (Czech river). It´s quite hidden and I missed it the first time I was in this ZOO.
The walk-through Amazonian aviary was under reconstruction when I was there the last time (at the end of August 2024), so it was probably improved. The small exhibit with pacing kuandu might be the next for reconstruction into something bigger and better. Or maybe they will have their own exhibit in the future.
12:15 It´s possible the nyalas were originally supposed to cohabit an enslosure with some other species and it didn´t work well for some reason, so the separate enclosure was made. It looks like an afterthought.

I had a very similar impression of Pilsen, lots of really great stuff, but an equal amount of things holding it back. Very mixed feeling, but I'm glad I visited it of course. To answer the question at the end, the one Czech zoo I'd like to go (back) to is Zlin!

Crazy. That was the last video from our Czech Republic trip. There's a German and an English video for all four zoos. You know what that means—time to start planning the next trip.

Back to Pilsen Zoo: an exciting park with many rare animal species. The only thing that isn't rare are the vending machines :)

Animals I would love to see in european zoos are Walia Ibex, African golden cat, numbat and indri lemur, of course in proper enclosures.

That bird show looked incredible and innovative. Shame about everything else. I'm also very critical of exhibit design and spend almost as long looking at the enclosures as the animals. I appreciate your thoughtful critiques.

Those lemur enclosures made me sad and the one pacing back and forth. I would rather see quality over quantity.

Black caimans, leopard seals, peruvian booby birds and coquito sergeants

all 4 great apes, polar bears, ad a elephant species, in enclosures that meet their needs of course.

Shame to see this type of chimp enclosure - if the trees where climbable it would be so much better

if you're interested in seeing proboscis monkies, you should visit apenheul in Apeldoorn.

You should consider getting a camera that shoots 60 fps, it would make all the panning shots look a lot smother

Bird of paradise is not female, it is young male which do not have full colloration yet.

One of my favourite zoo. I have diefferent opinion on animal husbandry, so I'll spere you an essey about how I disagree with some of the critism regarding limited space, etc. And wich animal would I like to see? Choosing just one is impossible - basically, any randomly selected ungulate would make me happy. But to be more specific: duikers (species not currently represented in Europe), hirola or all 3 species of babirusas.

have you been to diergaarde blijdorp in the netherlands? Or are you planning to go there in the future?

Very interesting video — I have to agree that some of the enclosures are indeed quite small, and that Pilsen Zoo should invest in modernization while also reducing the size of its animal collection. I also think that the brown bears should have access to the entire forest, and that the main fence should be redesigned — for example, made of stone — so that the bears can fully enjoy that beautiful forest area.

However, despite the great video, I unfortunately have to point out a few mistakes in the animal names. In the African pavilion where the lions live, you said that the Palawan porcupine lives there. But I must correct you — it’s actually the African brush-tailed porcupine.

Next, I have to note that Pilseň Zoo does not keep the Galápagos giant tortoise, but since 2004 it has kept the Aldabra giant tortoise. I’d also suggest double-checking the goliath heron, because as far as I know — and as listed on Zootierliste — the goliath heron is kept in Zoo Dvůr Králové Zoo, not in Pilsen Zoo.

I’d also like to mention that besides the sarus crane, we could also see a white-naped crane in the video — and it was actually the white-naped crane making the calls.

For future videos, I really recommend double-checking the animal names :)

In such a species rich Zoo, I would definetly wish to see rarities like for exanple a Platypus, Quokkas or an Orinoco Crocodile, which are all really cool animals that are almolst nowhere to be found in european Zoos

Great review! I would love to visit some zoos in the Czech Republic. They seem so diverse in terms of fauna from zoo to zoo. Just a question: Do you film your b-roll shots in 4K 30fps or 4K 24fps? The reason I am asking is because I notice a lot of motion blur in some of your landscape and exhibit panning shots. After looking at them constantly, I get a little bit motion sick due to the blur. Would working in 4K 60fps suit your workflow potentially? Maybe this would get rid of some of that motion blur.

P.S: I can't wait for your review of Yorkshire Wildlife Park! It's definitely in my top two best zoos in the UK that I have visited. The Amur Leopards are my favourite!😁
