ITS call Mathes With s MATHES,
A huge thank you to Emeritus Professor Cecil R. Reynolds and Dr. Stuart J. Ritchie for their expertise and time.
Also a massive thank you to Prof. Steven Piantadosi and Prof. Alan S. Kaufman for helping us understand this complicated topic. As well as to Jay Zagrosky from Boston University's Questrom School of Business for providing data from his study.
fluid intelligence is so important that even a highly educated man like him was visibly disappointed with 118. can't blame him, everyone has a limit.

It’s honestly wild how obsessed people are with IQ when barely anyone actually knows their real score. If you want a legit, accurate measure, you pretty much have to take the WAIS or a BrainTypeIQ test

25:04 They are absolutely not more important. A normal person will never need it. And even those who use it don't need it since that's not our society, they choose to do it.

IQ testsarevery reliable and accurate. They are not going away.

The only genuine and reliable IQ tests are the WAIS-R and Stanford Binet. And they must be administered by an expert trained in administration of same. They involve spatial and hands on tasks which are impossible to perform online. Any other testing is mostly useless.
My IQ was tested at 131 and 127 when I was 5 and 7 respectively. In my late 20s it was measured at 141, in case you’re wondering 😎 And no, IQ generally remains about the same throughout life and does not increase with age. My scores are basically consistent within a standard deviation range, considering factors such as differing tests, test administration, sleep, mood, test conditions and the like.

today you must be ashamed to be smart because idiots might be offended
@DariusM-v7nthe problem of this video is that it does not use the real base of inteligence, that is logic, if you good at logic, your good on every test of the IQ test, art and beauty should never be included in IQ tests.
studing for a test defeats the objetive of the test, your totally invalidating the test :D
0:56 "science guy" that was rather uncalled for from fatty, treating him like a child
@nostro1940I was undergoing therapy in my twenties when my therapist insisted that I take 2 IQ tests. The main effect of that was that when I visited Washington, D.C I had a number that allowed me to have a sit-down dinner with a few of the journalists who wrote for the Washington Post. I would have to say that was one of the truly pleasant experiences I have ever had.
@ed_reusser2+ years late to the game, but 11:25 is NOT proof that IQ=big brained... because it's all about the FOLDS.
@trinleywangmoIf better education increases I.Q. then scores should have been steadily dropping since the 1970’s.
“We are in danger of producing an educated proletariat. That's dynamite! We have to be selective on who we allow to go through (higher education). If not, we will have a large number of highly trained and unemployed people. That's what happened in Germany. I saw it happen.” - Roger A. Freeman, 1970
the reason iq got misused in USA is because of racism. Americans view everything through race
@UnbiasedWordsI would love to see a study showing the correlation if any, between level of income and level of sociopathic tendencies.
@georgejones3526You don’t have to be very bright to be in a managerial role, but if you want the company to succeed the poorly paid peons had better know what they are doing.
@georgejones3526Dare we see if there is a correlation between IQ and political party?
@BillWhite-z2uI did one but I didn't spend all of the time (test by mensa) and I got 100 with 12:30 minutes left and I took it at like 12 at night so if I spend more time it might look like 110 maybe I don't really know
@andrewzdroI would never brag or even mention my relative IQ to anyone, and my only personal use for it is to give me a basis for how I figure out and solve problems... I seem to do very well is a wide variety of fields, yet not incombered with being in the "genius" group that may feel pressured to do something great with their inteligence... guess that makes me just a Smart-A.s.s... LMAO...
@Reality_Check-1969"IQ is supposed to measure intelligence, but does it?"
Yes.
never just interpret data, is this not science 101?
@QuaDueI can’t prove this here, but soon after this video began and you mentioned you took an IQ test, I guessed aloud that you scored “over 130, but not a lot, maybe between 132 and 135.” (I had heard the “gifted” number being >130.) Pretty much “nailed it.” Why would I lie about that, lol?
BTW, as a grammar school student, I scored very high, and when confronted by a far-right “rival” at work in my 20s, we argued about who’s smarter (I’m very left of center)… I scored 176 on the same test that he took (and scored 156 on it). He claimed that he finished much faster and didn’t really try hard. My verbal score (as on the SAT) was what heightened my #.
IKR? “Smarter” people don’t try—and speed through tasks, especially in competitive situations? I doubt that.
He’s probably still a skilled liar, and I’m probably still substantially “smarter”. He clearly hated me—for my liberal views—but I’m also smart enough to stop wasting my life hating on others.
Huh. I had an SAT of 1360. I'm smarter than Derek! (Of course watching these videos disproves that assertion.)
@Paul_HalickiI worked with a bunch of meteorologists, and we took a LOT of IQ tests on quiet night shifts. My guys were all math and physics smart, and routinely scored REALLY high. Mine went from 133 to 145, and were remarkably consistent, over at LEAST 20 tests. Every one of my coworkers were the same. Dudes that hit 150, hit it consistently. You really could plot scores on a graph, with a standard deviation value of only about 3.
@dennissvitak14815:24 'the top three earners in this study all had IQs below 100.' You don't have to be clever to be rich, you only have to be a sociopath.
@dirkcampbell5847NOOO VERITASIUM DONT QUOTE HAWKINS NOOOOO
@luiscuba9188I was curious to know how the results of the free on-line tests that you took correlated with those of the professionally administered test.
@hobo245Idk i took an iq test only I got 110 now i am sad cause it’s borderline stupide for high Level math and stuff. Gg
@terrore63How to yell you are a Leftist without saying that you are a Leftist.
@ham9187I was always good at multiple choice tests. They are designed so that the one right answer sometimes is obvious, but almost always two or three of four or five choices can be eliminated right away, leaving often just two potential correct answers. Then its a 50-50 guessing game and much easier to ferret out the most correct answer. At one time my IQ was said to be 142 or 147, I forget exactly because it's been about 60 years ago.
What the test do not measure is long-term memory, which I feel is essential for business success, or any employment success. Memory for names and faces, for symbols and theorems, for common calculations all play an important part in science and people interactions. Without a good memory, blasting speed of IQ is hampered more than one might expect.
If you are the type with difficulty remembering names, work on that, because it is important in the workplace. If in science, recalling common formulas is important, though today calculators and apps and Google can do most of the remembering for you.
When I was only in sixth grade, I had an IQ range of around 130-145. Not that accurate 🤷♂️.
@OleksandrGlaberman-s6uBy practicing on specific IQ test questions, you decrease the accuracy of the test (unless everyone who takes an IQ test does the same)
@edwin12716Interesting about the correlation between SAT and IQ. I looked at one of those tables that cross-reference the two, and my IQ (taken at age 6 or 7) "predicted" my SAT (taken at age 16) almost exactly. There was no studying for the IQ test back then. I was taken to a psychologist in a strange part of town, sat down in a small room, and given strange questions to answer without any preparation. I really had no idea what the purpose was.
@joebco1My 136 IQ only makes me hard to understand and socially awkward. It's rare but refreshing when I meat someone who's on my wavelength. Ive said for years I wish I had a 110 IQ instead. Having a high IQ can in many ways be the same as having a low IQ
@jordansuterIt's an uncomfortable subject because a large portion is genetic, which means there's only so much that can be done to overcome it. Sure education can increase some, and there's some evidence that diet can also play a role, but ultimately the brain at some point during development because increasingly fixed, so interventions become less effective. The fact that the military decided that anyone with an IQ under 80 would do more harm than good suggests that it's a real phenomenon that can't be readily improved (at least by the time you reach 18 or so).
@benpeeples4265I am the smartest dumb person ever!
