I Set Jet Fuel and Gasoline on Fire & This is What Happened

Video Overview & Insights

I Run a Couple Experiments with Jet Fuel and gasoline to show how jet fuel gets ignited during an aviation impact and which fuel ignites easier.

It would be great to see this experiment done again but using 'like for like'. Ie. Jetfuel v Diesel then Avgas v Gasoline.

— @mortlaursen6752

Gasoline and iet fuel are both petroleum-derived fuels, but they are engineered for different types of engines and conditions. Gasoline is a lighter, highly volatile fuel used in car engines,

where it must ignite quickly and burn rapidly to support fast piston cycles. Jet fuel. on the other hand is a kerosene-based fuel that is heavier and less volatile, designed to burn steadily and remain stable under the extreme temperatures and pressures experienced in iet engines and at high altitudes. Because of its higher flash point 100F, iet fuel is also safer to store and handle in almost all conditions.

also why we see such massive fires when an aviation impact occurs even though Jet fuel is not Flammable but it is Combustable.

It's a common misconception that jet fuel is some kind of explosive "liquid rocket fuel." But is it actually more dangerous than the gas you put in your car? The truth is, Jet Fuel (Jet A) is technically safer than Gasoline in its liquid form, yet we still see terrifying fireballs after high-impact aviation accidents.

Did you die from the brain injury I read about?

Please tell me you are still alive.

— @goodmorning-nip

I demonstrate the key concepts of flammable vs. combustible liquids, the role of flash point, and why jet fuel doesn't ignite when you put a flame to a puddle.

A simple demonstration of the difference in volatility and flash point, A Wick Test: Showing how heating a localized area of jet fuel above its flash point allows it to burn (like a candle!).

High-Speed Tank Rupture Replication: I simulate a high-velocity fuel tank rupture to see the effects of fuel atomization on ignition and Atomization Ignition: The final visual proof of why simply spraying jet fuel makes all the difference. Discover the science behind the headlines and get an insightful understanding of hydrocarbon chains, volatility, and energy density. The fireballs we see aren't due to jet fuel's volatility, but its ability to be instantly vaporized or atomized during a high-impact crash.

How do you just buy jet a? I have a pulse jet engine I want to try running on it but I haven’t found an easy way to get any

What do you think? Is a safer fuel tank design possible to prevent atomization? Let me know in the comments below.

This is Why, TWA 800 did not.... "Explode", because of jet fuel vapors!
The Safety Board needs the Vapors to >>'Detonate'<<< the Kerosene Vapors. But 'That' is chemically impossible.

A combustible fuel, in any condition, cannot and does not DETONATE.

You are invited to listen to my report [just one of them] in my radio interview on TWA: YT Audio: [Aaron Sheets TWA Flight 800 Solved ]

Its time that the truth gets out.

I recently saw a video where you tested nitrous oxide on a miniature engine, and then I saw the ones about the RC jet engine. What would happen if you tested nitrous oxide to the RC jet engine?

Gasoline chain length is just an average too, and there are rings and other types of structures too.

Av fuel is just kerosene, highly refined and with various additives, but the experiment you're doing might as well be with fuel out of my grandfather's tractor tank

We used Jet B fuel for starting fires with drip torches. Mixed our own I think it was 2 parts diesel to one part gasoline. A bit easier to light than Jet A appears to be.

In most cases, the Jet-A on the plane is or near an atomized state making it easier to burn/ignite.

Before we adopted propane gas, in Nigeria Jet feul or whats known as Kerosene was what we used to cook, with a wick stove, that used woolly ropes and took advantage of the capillary action of fluids.

@Droid_Sensei
@

We know that in Africa, people mostly cook with Kerosene (jet fuel). Mostly safer than gasolin or cooking gas that we mostly use in the west. And it helps that most houses are built with bricks (Molded cement blocks)
