I love how you are always yourself. I have been watching your YouTube video's for a couple of years now and I love the content a lot. I'm kind of sad you graduated, don't get me wrong I am very proud of you. Just that... those video's will end haha! I loved the university video's a LOT! And they helped me a lot through my college years. But, I had to stop due to mental block and other things sadly, but it will get better one day.
I also wanted to say that the man from The Vampire Diaries in this video is Ian Somerhalder, I met him in 2023 <3

I really love your vlogs. You really make the viewer feel like they’re with you on your journey. Great storytelling. I also notice you don't really show people in your vlog. I'm assuming out of respect? Anyway I love it and I'll be watching.

i study from indian school of films & television
@studywithdevclass11I feel this currently at a state school in California and like I'm hearing a lot about the industry right now even from my professors. it kind of leaves me guessing if I made the right decision, but i realized that I shouldn't dictate what i want to do based off of this because i know theres a way, so its really just going hard thanks for this video!
@JuskolbyyYou NEED to watch TVD.. because of Ian Somerhalder girllll
@sammayweather8941Personally. I think that evetually when the highest position people retire and everyone moves up. The entry level jobs will be filled by gen Z. But that is going to be when theyre is no one left to fill entry positions. Eventually our generation will reach the top and be in charge. You just gotta stick with it long enough. Ive been writing sitcom episodes and comedu sketches. Then i saved them on a shelf for when they can be used. The ones that are to my liking I shoot.
@Everhart_EntertainmentThat library with all those scripts 😭😭😭 I wish I went to film school
@eliceiam_OKAY BUT THAT OUTFIT IS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@eliceiam_Don’t give up! You work too hard for this. I will be attending at USC film class soon. But my advise is You might have to do an independent film try to connect in get a small group of investors that believes in your vision. So what if Hollywood is dying this is not the first time .. great art is great art that can’t be ignored make them respect your vision and kick the door open … we in this together ✊🏾
@KrazyCaN347Can’t wait to see you at the Oscar’s. I will feel like a proud uncle from afar. Especially if it’s for directing or screenplay. 🏁 I’ll settle for the Emmys 😂
@ChefTeeDaHotboiThe moderator being drunk is the funniest thing I can only imagine the optics 😂😂😂😂
@ChefTeeDaHotboiI feel like I have literally watched her grow up in front of our eyes. I hope she directs her own reality show once she starts to make it big. Much more success and blessings to you Makayla. 🫡💯🏁
@ChefTeeDaHotboiDon't worry fam there's no jobs anywhere
@jade.greenwoodThe wrong People are getting into the Film Industry not bringing any ideas or Creativity! The Film Industry isn't dying because Someone like Me will never let it Die 💪🏽
@SolCarlo26I like movies. I watched 182 movies in 8 months in 2020 lolol. I did it again in 2025 caz I was a loser. I watched 138 in 13 months. The best one I saw this past year was titanic. The best one I saw overall was no country for old men.
@chriskalraGirl you can do your own thing- independent media is the way to go.
@myyearofpodcastThere are more shows than ever... its easier to find work right now... what are you talking about haha
@kabutoyakushi6618You have almost a million subscribers. put up a go fund me or get a businuess loan and make your film as a independent/entrapanural project. Also suggestion: please cast more dark skin black girls in your projects, the industry desperately needs it.
@ShaksyrnWith the film industry going AI and if there aren't as many jobs for actors, writers, etc, do you think artists will slowly go back to doing live theater instead of tv and movies?
@HaleyMaryThose self driving WAMO cars are so cool! I haven't seen any of those self driving taxi vehicles in Canada yet.
@HaleyMaryWhen the pandemic happened and open mic nights shut down, I searched a lot of videos about acting, joined stage32 and acting groups on facebook to learn about the industry, but if AI takes over movies, I'm just going to go my own way and perform comedy shows in my city and see how far I can go without AI. I feel like AI takes away the creativity aspect of it all.
@HaleyMaryI can see you being a 🎥 filmmaker or director like Ava Duveny
@charlita25Omg the dude from vampire diaries😮 you should watch it.
@finallyfree2BMeYou can make YouTube movies like the Nigerians.
@huntergatherer12I’m 24 and working, but I’m thinking of acting and going to school for film and writing. I remember in 4th grade writing stories in our school laptops and I just miss being creative and creating characters from scratch and development in stories your videos are inspiring in getting into it.
@iwatchyoutube.2790This is so scary because I’m about to go to college for film production I have no idea which school to pick to ensure I have the best education and best chances is Hollywood. If anyone has advice!! Pleaseeee
@sydneigh242Stop making woke crap and you’ll be successful.
@NickVivi12I’ve made 3 feature films before graduating from High School. I did this completely homemade without crews of people and did it mainly by myself with some close friends. I am in Film school currently, so if worse comes to worse I’ll make another indie movie on my own again and submit it to festivals
@CharlieantonettiofficalMaybe you can work in Canada that seems to be where they’re making a lot of films and TV shows nowadays
@Hbd2002Who is willing to Work for Free?
My son & I are building an Indie Film production company. He is like Makayla and others, just graduated - student level experience in directing, writing, acting. I have a lifetime of entrepenuerial experience - law, bus. development, investment.
I also write - feature screen plays (and doctor at times).
We are now Working For Free: Building an international Doc - reinactment series, developing other docs & feature proof of concepts. I am focused on bus. development and production liaise. My son is focused on concept development, filming (the doc), and building a film crew network. - He just returned from a month in Thailand where, he inteviewed over 50 film crew - creating a list whom we will be doing some short-form ''test'' works in the next round. <My son is fluent in Thai & Mandarin, and worked there as a kid so he is able to build on the ground networks now that he graduated.>
We want to build with good people, new or experienced, above or below the line focused.
We are doing this, right now.
This is not a job, making money, until it is.
The established industry is still contracting, so we are not going to wait for this or hope to be picked (even as we work our own few connections).
We are going to demonstrate Unavoidable Value. - We are self-funding the current documentary. We aim to find more funding, but producing won't stop. Whatever the budgetary constraints, we will continue to build our crafts actively.
We expect to be rolling cameras in Thailand this summer, or fall. - This may be for current or new projects, we are open to supporting others' concepts as well.
If you are determined to build your craft, willing to colloborate with (nearly) all of your time, reach out. Producers, writers, directors, crew, art, actors. This is the 21st century's method of community theater - refining our coal into diamonds.
- We can currently meet, in person, in Florida, California & Iowa at times, Thailand, Hong Kong, other states when productions take us. Otherwise we can zoom and build.
White shirt and stripy tie? Like a school learner in England 😮 it really looks like UK school's uniform!
@Em1ly-n3eWith the amount of subscribers and people who view your videos. I can’t see any reason to be afraid. You could do short films, maybe even a music video for local talent. I’m not sure. I have no desire or envy for what you’re doing. I did film school as well. Loved the experience, I’m way older than you and I did it at the time when tik tok wasn’t a thing, we had MySpace as a new and upcoming thing. Anyway, trying to break into that industry is way too hard. Some people spend their whole lives wasting away and wishing or working endlessly to break into the LA movie scene and it’s not always worth it in my opinion. But I never had any audience like you do on a social media channel like this. You do. You could make some small videos and short films and work your way to feature films if they do well. Start small. You’ll be just fine. Sounds like you’ve already broken into the industry and you’re more afraid of yourself than what opportunity you already have right now.
@ourlifemannyandsheraDon’t be scared never a better time to be a creator and build something with AI you have an edge with your education. Start your own film company with your 600K followers sky’s the limit I think!
@KeLLy_BoHi Mikayla! I am a film major also ...have you been lucky enough to actually get onto a movie set yet?
@NinaMurrillMakayla you are such an inspiration 💕 As a first year film student, your videos really pushed me into pursuing my career. There are so many great things ahead of you!!🫂
@shrimp3480Film school is now creative kid adult daycare... don't expect it to get you anything in the industry. You need connections/luck for that. Doesn't matter how talented you are. This industry is different.
I got my Masters in Film a few years back and I have been lucky enough to edit and direct photography on an indie documentary that showed at festivals, but most will not even get that. And even that, it didn't boost my profile enough as a newcomer to get me another job. It's an utter apocalypse right now. Not just in our field but entry level in every field is death. People are just moving back in with their parents because they can't afford to live. It's bad.
This Vlog has more views than a lot of the feature films I have worked on for major networks. You have already built an audience and have found ways to monetize your channel, just make your own film you don't need school for that.
@scott_stevensonyou have yt, the rest is up to you
@ardordeleon595.000 subcribers sound like a good way to deal with that.
@degibocuTwo reasons to go to film school: networking and access/mentoring with high end equipment. In regards of your career, you are doing it. You’re not the “YouTube is beneath me” crowd.
@pulpted9937I've been having similar thoughts, as a film composer. I can't help but feel like we are next on the menu. The answer, I think, is that we must replace Hollywood with smaller, film festival-centered studios that have a strong commitment to human artists.
And if you need a composer on any of your projects...
i never watch vlog or videos like this unless it’s people i know, but off of the recommended page im watching this video through, great work twin
@mxnoKBWe had a few interns wanting to get into the industry, that were influencers. We were all wondering what they were doing learning to make movies when they made more money filming their handbags and makeup at home. 😂😂😂
