I Created Flash Cards with ChatGPT and My Productivity SKYROCKETED!

Video Overview & Insights

Looking to save time on your medical studies? Using anki flashcards with AI tools has completely changed my study tips game! 📚 As a medical student, I've discovered how to boost productivity while creating medical flash cards in seconds instead of hours. Join me as I demonstrate how to combine study motivation and chatgpt to revolutionize your learning process. 🎓 Whether you're a med student or just looking to optimize your study routine, this video will help you maximize your learning efficiency! 💪

The ChatGPT prompt:
"I want to create detailed flashcards based on the content of a document I will provide. Please help me generate flashcards that cover every key topic in the document comprehensively. Each flashcard should focus on one clear question-and-answer pair. Present the flashcards in a simple table format like this:
Question Answer Tags
Question 1 Answer 1 Tag 1
Question 2 Answer 2 Tag 2
Use this structure for all responses. Tags should include the major topics of the document for better organization. Aim for a range of cognitive levels: factual recall, process understanding, application, analysis, and synthesis. Ensure the flashcards are self-contained, so each one provides enough information to understand the context without needing other cards or the document itself. If the document is long, we can work in sections.

Keep your prep sessions completely zero stress. Let Ryne handle the tedious task of making summaries and flashcards while you just focus on reviewing. 💆‍♀️🌈

you dont need a spreadsheet editor, you just need to paste into a text editor and save as a csv. also specify that you want it to use the pipe | symbol as the seperator

A correction: making/writing flash cards is an active process and thus in itself learning. If you let ChatGPT make them, it is - as you say - lightning fast, but you do not learn anything in the "process". It is totally passive and - to my knowledge - against everything we know about learning.

This is awesome advice, appreciate the work you do here. I actually just launched a study platform that tries to operationalize something similar (upload of pdfs, lecture materials, web pages, etc to create flashcards) that allows direct export to Anki, word docs, or csv files. Students can also test themselves directly on the platform with those questions. As a fellow Anki user myself, I wanted to set up a place for less technical students.

Given your expertise, would love to get your feedback on the platform. Would you be interested in giving it a spin? I can send over the link and access to the premium version of the site if so. Thanks for all your work helping students.

I wish that this tool had existed back when I was studying Mandarin Chinese. I spent hours making my flashcards, and even then I struggled with creating example sentences and proofreading everything before uploading.

And for your information. Google just released gemini 2. You can use it in google studio AI. You have 1 million token free per chat. In comparison chatgpt 4 is 124k. If you use a newer gemini (in beta) you can double that number. You can send it pdf files and all kind of things. If you are interested by that you can watch the video of AI SEARCH called "This free AI will change your life". Really interesting channel too. (sorry for my scuffed english)

Here is a better prompt i experimented with alot of prompts, this gives the best flash cards "You are an expert in creating Anki flashcards, skilled at designing concise, engaging, and effective cards for optimal memory retention. Your task is to assist users in converting various study materials into flashcards for Quizlet, Anki, Noji, or any other flashcard app.

Objective:
Create clear, concise flashcards from user-provided instructions, formatted for Anki CSV import after confirmation.

Instructions:

Source: Do not search or use internal knowledge about the topic.
Accuracy: Ensure all flashcard content is factually correct and relevant to the topic.
Answer Design: Keep answers brief, catchy, and easy to remember.
Avoid Overlap: Answers should not repeat information already in the question.
Tone: Maintain a neutral, instructional tone focused on educational clarity.
Key Information Selection: Focus on practical, useful facts; avoid trivial details (e.g., "The sun is at the center of the solar system").
Flashcard Creation Guidelines:

Minimum Information Principle: Only include essential details for understanding and memorization.
Specificity: Each card should focus on one clear fact or concept with one correct answer.
Conciseness: Make questions and answers as short as possible without losing meaning.
Contextual Relevance: Provide enough context for each question to make the information meaningful.
Relevance: Prioritize practical, important knowledge.
Examples: Refer to "how_to_formulate_knowledge.txt" for clarity and simplicity.
Variety: Vary question structures to maintain engagement and avoid repetitive phrasing (see "Variation_Requirement.txt").
File Format:
Ensure flashcards are formatted properly for Anki CSV import.

Important Rules to Follow:

Verify: Double-check the accuracy of all content, adhering to the Minimum Information Principle.
Length Check: Further shorten text, especially on the answer side, ensuring brevity without losing meaning.
Step-by-Step Process: Analyze content systematically to extract key knowledge.
Engagement: Create engaging yet concise phrasing to maintain user interest.
Avoid Complexity: Simplify concepts without losing key details.
Rewards:

$200 for following all instructions and adhering to the "Very Important Rules Not To Break."
$200 for creating flashcards according to the "Guidelines for Flashcard Creation."
$200 for focusing on key knowledge and avoiding trivial facts."
