How Trump's Visa Crackdown Triggered a Texas Housing Bust
Video Overview & Insights
North of Dallas, towns like Frisco, Prosper and Celina became some of the fastest-growing suburbs in the US, fueled in part by corporate relocations and Indian-born workers with H-1B visas. But tech layoffs, higher visa costs, tighter immigration rules and AI disruption are now cooling demand in a housing market built around rapid growth.

Buyers in Texas said there was ‘all kinds of religious stuff’…in Texas? Isn’t Texas supposed to be all about ‘religion?’ Bless their hearts..I also like the one guy with cancer…‘I’m an educated technology worker, but my son is concentrating on sports..’ yup, that’s Texas. He should fit right in. Seriously though, he did not mention his son’s academic achievements at all. Very unusual.

The racism we can do without…but the ‘scam’ aspect, is companies not wanting to pay wages that make sense. They claim they can’t find a C++ programmer with 10 years experience - for $40,000 per year - so they bring in H1B workers.

Did you catch the confederate flag at 2:11? That’s Texas.
@normm1619Temporary visa but 30 year fixed rate mortgage? sounds suspicious
@daircruz6888Who care of South Asians.
@TKL95IMO, all none immigrant visa should not be allowed to own or buy properties in the states. Most if not all speculate on the property and it drive up the value artificially. This is bad for local American.
It may sound like an extreme opinion, but many other countries do this. It has a very simple purpose which is to protect their own citizen and people who committed to the country long term.
The economy itself isn't the biggest issue in the US today; it's wealth inequality. Even with a GDP per capita of $80,000, regular people still struggle to make ends meet and cannot afford basic housing or education. The current stock market boom is a cruel joke, as its benefits belong entirely to the wealthy elite, not the everyday working class.
@Grand_RemonstratorI have been investing in stocks for more than 30 years. Today I have money for more than 500 years. I have only one house in Dallas and one in another country. I also have a tech company for more than 20 years. I lived all my life with less than 80% that I make. I invested the 20% in stocks like Walmart, Emerson, PG and many others. I just want the dividends. I never sell my stocks.
@CarlCook-fd1xbAs a Canadian, the Americans should be great full to president Trump.
@stoicvibes101Why modi can't help despite of its promises and 1 billion dollar trade deal
@cardboardibrahimUS should be grateful to these highly qualified and and skilful people who have contributed so much to the US economy.
@BlueMax333That's a good news! More opportunities for new local grads to find good IT job!
@tracer4900i would not touch these until -60% or less
@PPark-l6f4:56 When Trump loses elections is what he means?
@JiBoomBaahMany people I have known had to train an H1B worker to replace them. Let’s now have H1B workers train American workers to replace them and send them back home.
@rickmorin8840Trip is right on this . They will not help USA economy and all they do syphon out their money into India
@alizamzam11“The South Asian community”….leftists are so divisive
@s.trynh9818Talk about conspicuous consumption. Love to see it crash.
@janebishop5885not bias at all!
@jonathanquinn6729Man I feel for the man with cancer. Guy had his entire life mapped out and the next thing you know he's dealing with all sorts of problems when being on the express highway to leave the planet. Life's fucking brutal man.
@judasiscariot7049Tech companies love the visa program because it drives down what they pay for Information Technology workers. Corporations love this, if they could get away with it, they would love to pay a person with a PHD, 20 dollars an hour!
Back in the 90s companies said, we did not have enough qualified people, they simply did not want to pay what people were demanding!
The other side of the story… how hard it’s been competing with under paid south asians. If you’re looking for a job and find one as an employer with a string bias towards hiring another S Asian over an American. The under the table kickbacks for bringing another H1B. The control an employer has over an H1B makes one easier to manage. Yes, hiring the best and brightest in the world is great, but only if it’s a level playing field. $100k makes it more fair if you ask me. The US govt shouldn’t subsidize imported labor at the expensive of homegrown employees. Show this side of the situation. Bias is a two way street.
@Fork2uSkeptical. Was the Covid boom also driven by H1-Bs? This is a correction ZIRP-fueled the Covid boom.
@SilenceDogood06I can’t keep up with this H1B visas and TPS.
@CC-kl4nhCorporate America contributes to chaos in the US.
@VireakYuthDon't let the door hit ya on the way out!
@CHITOWN8072Who cares; should immigration policy change to ease up real estate prices?
@hemhaka2642Blame corporate America for enabling this in the first place, just so their bottom line looks prettier.
@mohdsaad90There’s really only one finger to point and that’s right at technology companies and fraud H1-B agents who are making millions of these visas.
@paulgilliland2992Malatang looks good!!
@ktkl68So the United States would rather bring in foreigners that take good paying jobs and good houses than to invest in its citizens to be educated in these fields wow
@joela6895We don't need these people here, we have enough workers
@miltonfriedman3593Make houses cheap again
@AnkitKrishnankuttyGreat news we need cheaper homes.
@dougk2932come back India my friend,you are always welcome where you from
@viveksingh-dq6ddNow it is cheaper for Americans to buy properties in these places.
@teckmenglee8060Isnt this a Texas problem. How did Trump have anything to do with an issue the whole country has been facing for years, even his own NYC and Florida. He's not some evil mastermind. Business people shifting blame
@jessicat9559Incompetence turning to racism
@aviroopmaiti8735Let them rent apartments, the program is meant to benefit american companies and americans (in theory) by design, not the temporary workers
@wakeup_samuraiA big problem with kicking out all the immigrants is that there are less workers in the system paying social security taxes, which pushes up the date that the Social Security system will become insolvent.
@Jay_DahlWTF you mean, it can’t be filled. There are no Americans to fill it? All you gotto do is restructure and making proper changes to fix it? That’s if you want to. If you like eaters who are put into power aren’t capable, then what should happen is that they should be voted out.
@jashuasmith9361Dallas market is great. I am an agent and we still have several areas that are getting multiple offers and top dollar. The north areas spoken about here are affected by all the builders over building and yes, the area is no longer diverse but caters to one specific type of buyer. This is a recipe for disaster.
@Hhills469What about school taxes get real.
@lazlonemeth9931It’s a reminder of how closely housing markets can be tied to economic trends, job growth, and policy changes.
@MortgageBySelenaH1b techs are being replaced by AI technology. Companies are switching to AI. It's the new thing now.
@cherianmathai5013good
@kortaffelGOOD!..... HP laid off their American workforce in 2011 and replaced them with H1 workers and Collin county turned into shit over night! The housing bubble is NOT a good thing and importing cheaper labor only benefits companies who higher them!
@section31196:45 how is Ravi Vavilala doing now? Stage 4 cancer is really tough to comprehend. 😞😞😞😞😞😞
@satyaambler
