I am just back from 4 months backpacking Europe, on my trip I used the Eurail/Interrail Pass App to get around. The more you use the app the more you understand how Interrail works. That is why I wanted to create this guide to share my Interrail Tips for those looking for a step-by-step guide. It will hopefully help those planning an Interrail trip save both time and money.

thank you for making this video it was helpful for sure. I found using the pass extremely confusing and it took me a few months really to work everything out but there are a lot of resources to help explain things like this video. Thank goodness. There are a few things I didn't know like for instance the filter for the transfer time between trains (I also didn't know that European trains run late a lot) I had a couple of trips with very tight transfers that I was worried about and I didn't realize that I could filter for more transfer time when looking for a trips

i'm planning a trip through europe using the Eurrail but i'm confused a bit about it. If i have eurrail pass that covers a certain number of days, do i need to pay for each train i take? because i'd assume i purchase the eurrail once so i can use it for multiple times throughout the trip without paying an additional fare for the trains i take

I’m close to having a heart attack trying to work with this app !!! Set up your planner and modify it and it damn Disappears and you need to put it back in again !!!! Argh !!! there’s no phone number to contact anybody. You have to wait for an email that hardly answers your questions but asks for more information from you than you do from them so goddamn frustrating. Definitely a western Europe app you people are lazy as you know what.

I used a 4-day Eurail pass in France to go from Paris to Bordeaux (by TGV), then to Carcassonne (by regional/not-high-speed train), then to Perpignan, and Villefranche-de-Conflent. I then took the Yellow Train (Le Train Jaune) through the Pyrenees to Font Romeau, and then finally Toulouse. My travel vlog has pics and video of some of the trains, and my thoughts on using the Eurail pass. What screwed me up (and resulted in a fine) was confusion about needing a seat reservation ticket as well as cancelling a Eurail pass travel day BEFORE getting on the first train. I basically bought the reservation using my Eurail pass number, got the QR code, and thought I was good to go. I did not realize I still needed to cancel the travel day, and I got the fine from the conductor. I figured out what I did wrong, cancelled the travel day, and then went and found him again, but he did not reverse the fine. 50 Euro lesson learned. When I was trying to figure out how to use the pass, I found it very confusing. Check out my YouTube video on my trip. https://youtu.be/SuEX0TlA_Iw

Hi Laura , just watched your great video which I found very informative. Many thanks 👍. Just a question about accommodation on your trip , obviously you were away for quite a while so do you have any tips advice about where to stay on a budget as the costs do mount up . TIA , Pete.

Just a couple questions about the seat reservations - will the ticket for the seat reservation that comes separately show the information for the carriage number?

I've never used trains before, let alone in another country, so it is a lot to wrap my head around! Im having to learn how to navigate train stations, platforms, read the boards etc completely from scratch.

Hi Grace. Thanks for the video, I know this was done 2 years ago so I think the App might have changed a little. I have just bought an Interrail Pass, I haven't activated it as I'm not travelling till mid May. I have been brousing trips on the planner but I don't see the slider at the side to book the trip. I don't have a QR code for the pass either, is that okay? Thanks You so Much.

@Johanna-zd3ox
@

Do you actually book a seat number and it will be reserved for? Or all the trains you can just pick any seat ?

@Laura Grace - I must've gone through 4 other videos on using the Eurail before I arrived on yours and YOUR VIDEO IS THE BEST! I really appreciate your straightforwardness and humility! It was relevant, short and the screenshare feature of your video was very helpful. My first time using the Eurail today was a flop but I am going to try again tomorrow. I'm keeping this video on standby to help me on my first trip through Europe. Hopefully we cross paths in our journeys. Cheers!
