I've found that when the VIX is declining and below 20, the stock market is basically a casino and there's a lot of money to be made: that's when I am bleeding off profits (profit-taking). When the VIX spikes over 30 (as it recently did in late March, 2026), that's a great buying opportunity to put that cash back to work. I have a very high risk tolerance, so I'm not sure this is a palatable strategy for most investors, but it has worked quite well for me.
