Don't see any grains of wood 😳
Hope it's not MDF layers we're seeing 😂
Hi, were going to talk about stripping paint.
There are two ways to strip paint. We have a heat gun, a heat gun is not the same as a blow dryer. This has a little more horse power. You have to be careful with it. The other way is a chemical stripper. They both have their pro's and con's.
Looks a hell of a lot faster than peel-away. Have too cover a paste that you plaster on, with special paper, tape and seal all the edges, wait a few days hope that you didn't leave on to short or too long. Oh don't get any on your skin, especially avoid getting it in your eyes. Spend days scraping it off, and neutralize it with watered down vinegar. Avoiding getting on metal.. double bag the scrappings and contaminated water you used. Compared to that this lightening fast
A heat gun is kind of like ironing. You want to be methodical and not hold it in one place too long. The heat, will loosen up the layers of paint and you can scrape it off. The plus point is you don't have to inhale to the chemicals from a chemical stripper.
Alright, so were going to do a section here for you. Show you the heat gun. [background noise] Pretty soon you will see it start to bubble...It is okay to use this on wood, but, be methodical about it and be careful. Were going to see whole layers of paint come off...It is good to do just a section at a time...This is not a fast process...Wow look at that...So plan your weekend accordingly and always use safety measures, long sleeves and gloves...So it may not be fast but this is an efficient way to strip paint if you are very careful.
So satisfying. Where are my tools?!!!! Its getting done today if I find them.

@KarenWilliams-eu5zlWow I have a heat gun at home that I use everyday. And I also paint. I didn’t know lmfao. Hahahaha I’m over here sanding like a fool.
@JoseValencia-fr8whJust hand sand
@oceano_drive241Oh my! Looks like your trying to burn the house down.
@MsEgriffin👍👍👍
@mariafont8826Warning PLEASE WEAR A MASK. Many old houses have layers of Lead based paint in the wood/timber work which you do not want to be breath in 😮
@Simlife101These heat guns are only two heat seatings get a three speed but be careful
@MickNolan-ms5rwIm stripping a couple old lead paint doors today def will use
@ChucbthewriterI have French doors with lots of small glass windows. I want to strip the paint that is around all the trim. Is it okay to use a heat gun this close to glass? Thank you!
@seanhaecker2256that's better then using loud tools the heat gun is perfect!
@bigjentertainment247What about if you live in an old house, do you want to be breathing in fumes from lead paint?
@HimoutdoorsPlanning on trying this out (just bought one) on a table I'm restoring. I used to just sand it off but it takes forever and ruins a lot of sanding paper. Thanks for the video.
Does it go faster with the thin mouth piece that spreads the air out more?
Yup. I was already thinking about getting doors dipped when you used the word methodical. I'm more a Homer Simpson of DIY. do I want it done right or fast? I usually go fast then give up and get a professional
@cheeks6310😂 don’t listen to this giy
@jonny5407Thank you. 🙂
@soda989Wish you would have showed the finished product
@gailmcquiston4892How do you heat the trim next to the wall without stripping the wall?
@fwbcarlIt is a fast process with the heat gun as long as you ignore him and do it properly. After you take off the first bit of paint you want to hold the scraper behind the heat gun and move in long steady motion applying pressure on the crater as you move. You don't need to wait for the paint to bubble, it will just slide of in long pieces, it's the steam and air expanding underneath the paint that releases it, the bubbles are just superficial and happen last because there is not much air between layers of paint.
@DC-fo3bnWow! I've watched two videos about how to strip old paint from wood, but I still haven't heard from any of the people that posted the videos as to what temperature they recommend for doing this. Many heat guns come with variable heat ranges, including the one I own. I guess that common sense dictates that you use the lowest temperature that will get the job done, Yes? Heat guns can start a fire if you are not careful with them...
@Lyael956A torch is far better than a heat gun and very fast.
@siyawashnishatWould it be faster n cheaper to replace trim
@hankhill3854Thank you. This was very helpful. I did not realize that it was a slower/sectional process; however I do not want to smell paint stripper. Plus the costs start to add up.
@ciaartin2221Wack Job
@omar011002Used a heat gun and now everything smells bad. Opened some windows and put bleach on it to stop the smell
@spinoirrex2433Thank you! I was using citrus strip and it was hell on earth. The heat gun removed all the layers of paint at once.
@Rdff522How I can remove old paint from big walls? This techinque will take decades to remove paint from my house.
@easterneuropeaninmexico35542013 it's post the video ...the legend it's say it's still scrape the paint and now🤣🤣🤣🤣
@dincaiuliankitchenMmm wouldn't mind seeing him strip. Lol
@bluefrog85Haha
This is not efficient but it's quick if your careful...
What!!
Is that paint lead based? A filter mask and ventilation might be needed.
@BrettCooper4702I tried a cheap chemical paint stripper it's messy to strip dissolved paint unfortunately I didn't have a better qaulity paint stripper one that could dissolve multiple layers of paint
@GollammeisterNow, how did I know that the keyboard cowboys would have a field day with this one LMAO
