Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet)
Price: FREE (It is an active place of worship).
⏰ Hours: 09:00 AM - 19:00 PM. Note: Closes temporarily to tourists during the 5 daily prayer times (especially on Friday afternoons).
👗👖 Tip: Shoulders and knees must be covered. Women must cover their hair (scarves are available at the entrance).
Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya)
Price: €25 (Foreign tourists enter via the upper gallery level. Free for kids under 8 years old).
⏰ Hours: 09:00 AM - 19:30 PM (Ticket booth closes at 07:00 PM).
Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnıcı)
Price: Depends on the time of your visit:
Daytime (09:00 AM - 18:30 PM): ~1,950 TL (Approx. €38/40).
Night shift (19:30 PM - 22:00 PM): ~3,000 TL (Approx. €58/60 - Premium light show experience).No cash accepted! You can only pay by credit/debit card or with your Istanbulkart.
⏰ Hours: Daily from 09:00 AM to 22:00 PM.
Topkapi Palace (Topkapı Sarayı)
Price: ~2,400 TL (Approx. €55/60). The combo ticket includes the Palace grounds, the Harem, and Hagia Irene. Free for kids under 6.
⏰ Hours: 09:00 AM - 17:30 PM (Ticket booth closes at 16:45 PM). CLOSED ON TUESDAYS.
Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi)
Price: €30/35 (Includes the 360° observation deck and a digital audio guide).
⏰ Hours: Daily from 08:30 AM to 23:00 PM.
Always buy your tickets through the official websites in advance! Not only will you skip the massive ticket lines, but you can also find exclusive online discounts and bundle deals.
The Istanbul Museum Pass (€105) covers Topkapi Palace and Galata Tower, but excludes Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern.
However, don't forget that Istanbul is known as the "City of Seven Hills," and it definitely lives up to the name! Neighborhoods like Balat, Fener, or Mahmutpaşa, and streets like Kumbaracı Yokuşu or Camcı Fevzi Sokak, have inclines of over 30%.
If you suffer from bad knees, meniscus issues, or lower back pain, or if the ground is wet from light rain, the cobblestones turn into actual ice-skating rinks. Tourists slipping and falling is a daily occurrence... Wear 100% non-slip shoes (I say this from experience: I fell twice and saw a bunch of people fall like dominoes) and take advantage of public transit.
Funiculars like the Tünel or the F1 (Taksim-Kabataş) will be your joints' best friends to avoid the worst climbs.
Enjoy the city of seagulls and cats!
If you have a couple of days left in Turkey, catching a short domestic flight to Cappadocia is 100% worth it.

One tip not mentioned enough: pre-book your airport transfer. It saves so much time and confusion at IST.
We had a great experience with IstanbulTour24 — driver waited at arrivals, tracked the flight, and the car was very comfortable. Worth it.

They have completely lost their minds. I have visited 5 wonders of the world in the last 2 years. All of them were cheaper than Hagia Sophia by a good margin. I have visited viewing platforms in NYC, each of them cheaper than Galata tower. Absolutely insane.
Was planning a trip to Turkey but with comments saying prices are now ridiculous im wondering if one can survive on a budget or $500 a day for two people excluding accommodation
