If you struggle to speak clearly because you lose your train of thought, it's because you lack 3 things, you don't understand the role of nerves and how it affects your thinking, you don't know the proper way to rehearse a presentation or speech, and lastly you don't communicate in frameworks.

I struggle when it comes to public speaking, I become anxious, I lose my chain of thought and I rumble. Fortunately for me, a month from now, I have an English exam, and one thing about it is if i rumble, I lose marks, if I lose my chain of thought, I lose marks, you get the gist. I feel like I'm about to shoot myself in the foot here 😅. I'm walking in unchattered territory.

this was a really practical way to think about rambling. the shift from being self conscious to audience conscious stood out, and the 3-2-1 framework is something you can actually use in real conversations, especially when you’re put on the spot.

there’s a business excellence bootcamp at high bridge academy where i studied that focused a lot on this in a work context. we practiced preparing for stakeholder conversations by structuring our points clearly, and even using ai beforehand to simplify how we explain ideas.

when you go into those conversations with a clear structure in mind, it’s much easier to stay concise and not lose your train of thought.

Your video makes me think of the framework I learnt when tackling Ielts Speaking exam. It is called 'two-step' process: first, you give an initial answer with one piece of information, and then give another piece of information that shows that you understand the situation you are describing.
I like your framework too!

3:55 This is tricky cause you can misguise familiarity with retention, i used to study like this, was disastrous and i was a pretty noise -jrk- fella so i dont recommend for this. But the effort is crucial in a way, but only if its the right kind of effort and its very easy to misunderstand this, you need to retrieve from memory, not every exertion and focus are useful (ie "Artificial difficulty"). I would say that your speaking skills should already be on point and you should just be trying to learn, so youre not trying improve 2 skills at once, youre pretty much teaching a class. I would say keeping a list of topics and assigning a time for each is crucial, the practice would be about hitting that time and how to teach the way you would like to be taught (so energy is less about memory connection and more about passing information effectively). If you expect questions and interruption is better to add buffer time besides a list.

Summary:

Don't become self conscious, become audiance concious, focus on audience not yourself.

How to not forget what you say : speak and read louder.

When speaking about any topic:

Use 3-2-1 framework

Talk about 3 steps
2 types
1 thing

Example - success

The 3 step for success is working hard , analyzing your mistakes and adapting from it

2 types of success is fast success and slow success, slow success builds character and fast success builds ego

1 thing about success is that it requires hardwork. Peroid.

The most horrible thing is not a presentation but q&a. I am getting nervous and very poor at improvising

Interestingly , as much as i remember you had given a random topic as “ travel “ to another audience nearly 5 months ago 😁
