Thermodynamics always comes first everything even in cooking
@dillmon1Great video. I enjoy using our wok weekly.
@m-quicksurbantherapy6569Iāve heard many times about seasoning woks, mine is so old, I havenāt used it for years, and it was never seasoned- but I loved the sized and versatility, itās very different cooking on an electric stove than gas though.
@victoriavernon-bt4joIn Thailand they use Coconut oil - the cheapest and most stable.
@gerrydepp8164I used Grapeseed oil. It seemed to work fine.
@byron7165My flat bottom wok on my electric stove, sticks after several years of frequent use. Ive seasoned cast iron, no problem.
@barbaraowens2299He cringed at James using olive oil to coat it, he clearly doesn't know what he is talking about. The instructions litteraly tell you to coat it with olive oil to prevent rust.
@lkysvnWhat a great and informative video! Thank you! Can you tell me, what is the best kind of work to get for an electric stove?
@MitchellMiller-n7cWogs?
@bolshevikproductionsFantastic information and lesson!
@ed_goblinWok is same as cast iron seasoning makes it not stick
@jbeard8728This is so incredibly helpful, instructional and concise. Thank you for the flipping practice with the Teach out trick. Iāll have to get right on that. Thanks for the videoš. Much appreciated!ā¤ā¤ā¤
@TransformInProgressWhat if my wok came seasoned already?
@MichellCamacho-l4nWOT?
@Ruiner897:15 I like how they desperately keep rewording sentences in their head to avoid slipping into blurting out "⦠like Jamie Oliver".
@AnvilshockPre-prepared. And before that it's pre-pre-prepared. And before that it's pre-pre-pre-prepared. And before that it's pre-pre-pre-pre-prepared. ⦠Imagine being unable to form the simple past without compulsively slapping some prefix to a word that already means what you mean it to mean ā¦
@Anvilshock> puts sticky label in water so that it's really nasty to remove and clogs the scrubber instead of peeling it off with some heat to soften the glue
Dude, you don't need a school of wok, you need a school of common sense.
Is Rachel the new Lucy Brown ?
@robinmabbott7334Do you put oil on the outside aswell? Because i saw some people do that
@BRDRSTERRefined olive oil goes to 242 degrees to smoke
@BRDRSTERMy mom taught me to test her stainless steel pan , by few sprinkles of water (before oil) to see if it's ready for oil, if they roll around for 3+ seconds, it is ready for oil.
@johnsmith-yt4roAsian Tom Holland?
@jamesmyers3773Please excuse my ignorance, but I do not understand the wok seasoning/browning process. So, you buy a brand new wok which is chrome/silver in colour then you need to "burn" it until it is black. So, why do they not sell pre-seasoned and pre-browned woks?
@CG74GJGwhat about cast aluminum woks?
@Tom-Yum-GaiDonāt do a thin layer of oil after drying on hob? Really??
@FretlessplaymoreVERY useful video, tried seasoning a wok before but never QUITE managed it, gonna give it another go
@stevemanklow5128Very useful info. I just had the little care instructions booklet that came with my wok i got over 20 yrs ago when, in USA, there was that first craze of wok selling and it was an ad on TV for them and i was a fan of PBS cooking shows since i was a little kid and they had several great asian cooking shows and my grandmother also enjoyed asian food and so when i saw the one in the ad, it was like those goofy "infomercials" of back in the 80s and 90s.
But it turned out to be a wellmade product, heavy gauge steel. I should use it more often, but i dont eat that much really a day and tend to just make burgers with sauerkraut instead of pickles and some steamed mixed vegs. or mashed potatoes w sauerkraut.
I had a cheap "wok" it was always rusting after use. I almost threw it away. I then watched this method of how to burn it and season it. It's 90% better. I just think my gas is not hot enough. Will give it another go once I have consulted the professionalsš. Thanks for the advice.
@garethanthonyclark4879Thank you very much.
I have wanted to know how to season a wok forever!
This is a brilliant explanation
It makes sense.
NO! Itās NOT tempering the steel! To temper steel you need to reach temperatures above 1292F
Do a little research before hitting the record button
Link for wok?
@dougprentice1363Is she still cleaning that wok?
@joe1071What woks were used in this video? Best seasoning clip Iāve seen, thanks!
@EyesofthasouthWok TF?
@PhilippinesProjectsIs this seasoning method applicable for a carbon steel pan? Iāve never seen this method on a pan⦠btw, those woks look really great!
@ArturonumanAnother reason millenials can't afford houses?? Is because avocados are expensive??? What in the wok???
@Darkl0ud_ProductionsDo you oil the outside of the wok
@susangiardin1123The shape of a wok is like an infrared lens. So the heat is focused on an area just above the base.
@DeeFrancisPadamadanjames is a D-bag. complete and utter.
rachel brings back the mammaries.
Very informative and helpful! Thanks to you all.
@nicholaphilip4609a more none-stick surface evolves polishing with course salt
new pan often require scrubbing with course salt to remove particles
Can a rusted wok be saved ?
@TigerBoyX15All non stick coats are Toxic no matter what company's say.
@WaschyNumber1On tonight's show, Jeremy teaches everyone, James oils his tool, and Richard has changed...
@TheHutchy01Wok the fok?
@paradoxofgodexistingThat millenial joke was brilliant!
@There-was-a-button-I-pushed-itA nice cheat is to use a propane cooking torch on sides. Saves your fingers from getting burntā¦
