If I were to over simplify the difference, I’d say “men” is only one sound and “man” is double sounded, like if it was wtitten “ma-an”. In my native language, Portuguese, “man” would sound like “meem”

Hi, I have a question please, so words like (can/fan/band/sand/pancake/thank) aren't pronounced like (kaan as in father) but (ka-uh-n) but my question is do some natives pronounce like just (kan like not aa as in bad but without the (iauhn after k) so not (ka-uh-n but ka-n) by moving directly from the (ka sound to the n without the (auhn), sorry I did my best to explain

I've been learning English for more than six years. Now I can listen to podcasts, watch TV shows no problem. And I can hear the difference between the pronunciation of man and men when the two words spoken one after the other. But if you pronounce one of those words without the other or a context, I have no idea either you say man or men. It's absolutely frustrating. I know that there is a difference, I can hear the difference, but I just can't work out what exactly the difference is and pinpoint the exact pronunciation of every word. No amount of explanation helps. Your video also left me where I've been. It's really maddening.

Hi Rachel, correct me if I hear it wrong. Oftentimes when I hear AA + G sound, it sounds different than the original AA, such as FLAG. Is there a modified AA when it follows by G sound as well? The same goes to EH, such as EGG and LEG, it seems EH is also modified in these words? Please advise. Thanks!
