I think the scoring system is ass, whoever made the rules made it way more complicated than it needs to be. It’s a freaking casual sport that has calculus level of scoring 😂

i really don't understand all the hate on this video. it seemed real easy to understand. thank you
1:35 - Pickleball Rally Player Positions
2:00 - Kitchen/Non-Volley Zone Rules
This explains to me the scoring a little better than some other explanations but, for example, when you provide the sample situation at about 3:50, you could have said "I will call out the score" instead of " They will call out the score" because I got mixed up between you and "they" which could mean the other team .
2:09 - The Pickleball Volley Rules
2:25 - The Pickleball Dink Shot
Just started playing Pickleball a week ago, someone explained the rules and definitely the confusing part is the server numbers.
For the most part it makes sense, staying out of the kitchen is maybe the most complicated part of play, but numbering the servers and starting with server 2 is confusing, especially if you don’t explain why you start with server 2.
But this video was aiming for concise and just 5 minutes, so they obviously their goal was brevity and not thoroughness with explanations.

I can't keep the score straight! So we ended up playing just to "practice play" to score 11. It's all for fun.
Selkirk Academy camps are uniquely designed to go in-depth on a specific part of your game through theme-based learning, instead of just scratching the surface on a wide range of topics. By narrowing our focus to specific pillars of the game — such as the fast-paced mechanics of Power Pickleball — we provide concentrated coaching to master a specific skill set, rather than just practicing it.
Thank you!

So Tennis ping pong. Just make your own rules up.
@johnmcgregor5045Damn that girl is hot. I wish I could meet and play her!
@fs3579The whole kitchen idea seems to slow the game down. Why not serve volley whenever? Might be fun to play but very boring to watch
@petekay67I don’t know if I want to play anymore
@leokali12345This is so confusing.
@JillDimalanta-h6tSo can I move anywhere behind kitchen or do I have to always stay in the box I started on? This is confusing AF
@justlm316Desisti de jogar isso! Kkkkk
@valmorjosegomesThese people aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. I play real sports.
@stringalongmike1953But... Why?
@Koka2609So basically tennis with a different name 🙄
@NkechiTheProlificWriterI’ve been playing with ping pong rules cause I assumed it was tennis and ping pong combined
@quack5646this video is so fast i lost my attention span
@amerainydayTy this was exactly what I was looking for
@SARONmusicIs this for real? Tennis for chef's 🤣
@justrnameI somehow know less about how to play pickleball now than before I watched.
@AMarie-fg7hwThis is disc golf of racket sports.
@CaptainStankDThe people who invented pickleball were high as hell!! So damn complicated when it comes to the serving part
@19KiloOIF3How many points for a game/set?
How many sets to a match?
idk who made the scoring rule of adding the serve count into the point system because?? it doesn't add any value. people watching the game or playing it already know who served first and who is next lmao. it seems like an excuse to just make the game sound different than tennis.
@iamnottanyaWhy is the first serve 0-0-2 and not 0-0-1?? "You play to 11 and you must win by two." What does that mean???? Do you keep playing if you reach 11 and the other side has 10? Clearer explanations!
@MyraDumbroskyExcellent video!
@marciabettim4687I’ve never seen a more St. George back yard.😂
@ManOfWar_1942How to take the game of tennis and make it more complicated 🤔
@davebushnell83It looks like Four Square with rackets
@18649128I think the only thing you need to clarify is why at the start the scoring starts at 0-0-2 even though the server is on the right server box, which you say is server 1.
@MoniqueThomas-d2wThe video showed server 1 and sever 2. But then later it shows at the start of the game server 1 says 002. I now know that if you’re in the right now and starting the game, we say 002 start. I think they needed to explain that bc it can confuse people. I think we should stick to OO1. Then if you score a point, you switch sides and you remain 1 until you miss.
@lalindahernandez4618Very helpful, ty!
@davidmontalvoseo4:31 the best way to understand pickleball rules is that the serving side is what most people would call offense, and the other side is playing defense. Once the serving side loses control of the ball, offense and defense switch.
@mr.gameandteach7197Just a quick question about serving. Does the same player have to be server 1 when each team serves? What about if they change sides during a rally and end up on the other side of the court?
@martinwright7093I think it’s a great video. I recommend all my beginners watch it before they go to the courts. Watch the video and play the game once and it will all start to make sense.
You will see this game is not just fun to play but you will also make a lot of friends. (Cracking up over mistakes is also part of the fun.)
Hi 👋 I just subscribed to your channel. I'm from Australia 🇦🇺
@minatran3652I was thinking about to go a place that has pickleball
@pingtan6552Thank you. Concise explanation of the basics.
@JJ6196-g3oWhat is a volley?.... I am lost after 2 minutes
@wanyengWow, way to complicated for me. Also I hated playing tennis and this looks just like it but smaller court. Thanks but no thanks.
@Lonewolf1961-s9zI just wanted an easy explanation. Now I'm more confused. How do you keep up with such a convoluted system of rules. My question 🖐 what if the opposing team disputes a score. You know that was (so) in/out and vice-versa.
@ryanhartsfield7836Way too many dumbass rules just play
@BilluAwannI guess if you're a beginner just a basic house rule of alternating serves round robin style 🤷♂️
@snake1625bGot it, it's too complicated to bother learning. 😂
